Guest Tedward Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Hi Guys & Gals, I want to install a 3rd Braking light in my 1997 ZX Advantage. (R Reg UK) I have removed the Drivers Side cover in the boot/trunk and found three wires (1 Brown & 2 Yellow) that go into a connecting block which then runs to the cicuit board where all the bulbs are situated. This connection is made up of 3 wires which are all grey in colour and fused together like a computer hard drive/DVD cable, so it is impossible to separe them without doing damage. I have tried connecting one of the leads from the 3rd brake light into where the brown wire enters the connecting block and the other to earth, but the light does not work doing it this way. Is there another way to install the light? The 3rd brake light works fine when tested using the car battery. Any help or advice will be much appreciated. Cheers Ted Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 This connection is made up of 3 wires which are all grey in colour and fused together like a computer hard drive/DVD cable, so it is impossible to separe them without doing damage. It is possible to split them. The lighting wiring on my C5 is similar (except there are more than three strands. I used a Stanley knife carefully between the strands and when they were separated, used scotchlocs to connect. Quote
