Guest misteritsy Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Hello to you all .I am hoping i may get some advice ..My sons Citroen Xsara .due to bad maintenance both fans have come loose.Well the one on the right hand side has seized and the fan has come off its clip that holds it the one on the left (as would be looking from the front of the car)the spindle is loose ..Basically he needs new motors ,well one motor to stop overheating Can you tell me which Fan is for heating and for air con left or right .It is a W reg 1.4 petrol .Citroen have said there are two different voltages 125 watt £80 each, and 200 watt.£150 each, but could not tell what fan did what. As there are no visible marks or stickers i have to take off the motor and get it tested . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated .Sorry to go on so long thanks.. Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 As you stand in front of the car there are two belts which go around the crankshaft pulley. The one which comes up to the left drives the alternator. The one on the right goes under a tensioner pulley, up over the power steering pump, then down around the air con compressor and back around the crank pulley. Both belts need to be tight otherwise they will slip/come off. Quote

Thanks for the reply but there seems to be a miss understanding .This has nothing to do with belts and pulleys , see if i can make it clearer. There is a radiator with two fans in front of it .One cools the Rad the other one is for aircon ,according to Citroen. As they are both broken which one cools the Rad .Left or right..Thanks Quote
