speedcat445 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hi all been a Citroen fan for years and had ZX/Xantias in the past and am looking for a C5 2.0 HDI diesel but confused by spec levels. Current car is a 52 Plate vectra with reverse park sensors, auto dip mirrors, rain sense wipers and cruise. Would like cruise, fogs, auto wipers and trip computer. Used to xantias in the past and spec levels where easy to understand but every website you visit gives different things as standard which you dont find at the dealers. Have driven both LX and SX but both had mechanical issues which put them out of the running. Prefered the SX but no cruise or fogs. What is a VTR ?. Help! Hope to purchase one soon. Quote

I had a 2002 sx and it had auto wipers trip computer and fogs ( built into the headlamp unit, so not obvious when you look at the car) To get cruise , xenons, parking sensors, powerfold mirrors, tyre pressure monitors, electric seats etc etc you will need an exclusive - well worth it for not much more money on an older car. The VTR back then was a "pretend" sporty upgrade of the SX with bigger wheels and sports trim, but the same performance. Hope that helps Quote

Confused about the fogs though how does it work if they are part of the main lights. Fogs are usualy low level Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 am looking for a C5 2.0 HDI diesel but confused by spec levels. Any C5 before mid 2004 will be a Mk1. After 2004 till 2008ish they will be Mk2 or facelift. I'm not sure about Mk1's but Mk2 have the lowest spec called the LX. Then there's Design, then VTR and at the top are Exclusives. LX & Designs have 1.6 engines; the VTR and Exclusives have 2ltr. VTR and Exclusives are very similar, but the Exclusives have tyre pressure warning, parking assistance, laminated side glass, six CD autochanger, xenon headlights, auto door mirrors and a few bits and pieces like mats and rear blinds. Unfortunately the spec list changes from year to year. A feature that was fitted in one year isn't guaranteed in later years. For instance, xenon HID lights which were fitted to Exclusive C5's are now a £1000 option. Quote

I have heard that a red "R" on the badge neans it's higher spec than a black "R" - who knows? The headlamp unit is huge on these cars . It encompasses headlight, main beam (separate), sidelight, indicator and fog lights where fitted. Fog light is angled down so it projects on the road the same as if it were under the bumper. Xenon headlights are far brigheter than fog lights, however, so make them a waste of time really if you go for a high spec. Quote

Me again Thinking about this, the SX always comes with dual zone climate control, the VTR sometimes does, sometimes comes with manual air con, which would put it below the SX Quote

Would hope to go 100k or below but so many round 140k about. What is the cam belt interval for the 2.0 hdi Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 What is the cam belt interval for the 2.0 hdi 100K or every ten years - but better done a bit earlier. Quote
