skaramanga Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hi, the sidelights on my C5 are always blowing. For a long time I was driving around with neither one working, just used dipped lights whenever I needed lights on. I tried to change them myself on one occasion but couldn't reach my hand in. Then I got my dealer to replace them which they charged well for. A few weeks later one of them had blown, followed by the other not long after. Is this a common problem on the C5?Thanks Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 It's a bumper off job to replace them (although it's been said that there's no need to). So far I've had to change mine twice so now I've replaced them with LEDs Quote
skaramanga Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Thanks for the reply! I think I will look into getting some LED's now instead.Cheers Quote

skaramanga Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 I have heard that the bumper doesn't have to come off too, but you must have to have really small hands to get them fitted! Why couldn't Citroen have made them more accessible?! Quote

Why couldn't Citroen have made them more accessible?! They're not too bad, although I can't change them myself. The Halfords boys seem to have no trouble. I've had both mine done there. I think they choose particularly dextrous staff members to be the fitters. Offside - unbolt the LDS tank and move it a couple of inches back to give better access. Nearside - remove the battery (leave car to stand 15 minutes first, so the ECU parameters are stored) They seem to grab the wires between their fingers and pull.Getting it back in requires a bit of patience to align the lugs and get the bulb holder square with the hole Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 The Halfords boys seem to have no trouble. So each branch of Halfords must be allowed to decide for themselves what can or can't be done. When mine went for the first time - just a couple of days before MOT, I took it to my local store. He asked for make and model and referred to his computer. All I got was "Sorry mate, we don't do that one." Quote
