Guest Laurafunok Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Hi I have a 2004 2.0 HDi C8. Last year I had the particulate filter replaced when the additive ran out, costly job at £700 all in. Now then, shortly after that some damage occurred to my eolys tank which meant I had a small leak and a month or so ago the dreaded "DIESEL ADDITIVE MINIMUM LEVEL" warning returned. So I bought a new tank and the refil kit for the eolys fluid and fitted them ourselves, then took car to a dealer and had ecu reset. Saving myself some money and of course now I know to top up eolys fluid every 20k to stop the dreaded warning coming back on!!!What I want to know now is, Is there any way of removing Particulate filter and cleaning it out with say, petrol? I have read in this forum that particulate filters are reconditioned by the manufacturer, so can it be cleaned?? Any help with this one? Laura xXx Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 On other forums I've read about guys who have cleaned them by using a high pressure water jet on them until the jet runs clean. And usually there are comments added by the 'greenies' who say it is toxic waste and should be disposed of in a correct manner. But is it toxic? It's the ash of cerium oxide which I used to use loads of as a polishing compound. Quote
