Guest Ayup Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Hi, My Berlingo Diesel has just failed the french equivalent of the MOT because the pollution level from the exhaust is too high. The mechanic has recommended I add a product to the Diesel tank when close to empty and then thrash the engine in first, second and third gears for about 50 k. The recommended product is Liqui Moly ( french). Can anyone confirm that this is good advice and recommend an English product that will do the same job Thanks in advance, Rob Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 The advice you've been given is correct as a first measure to try. I've never heard of the French stuff mentioned, but I regularly use Millers Diesel additive in all of our vehicles. Also Diesel Redex is very good, but a MOT tester guy I know uses Fortes Diesel Conditioner at his garage. Use about twice the recommended dose. Quote
Guest Ayup Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Thanks yet again ! The advice was good and the Berlingo passed with greatly reduced emmissions (6.80 down to 0.9). I'll probably do the same thing before the next Controle Technique (MOT) in 2 years time. Cheers, Rob Quote
Johndouglas Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 next Controle Technique (MOT) in 2 years time. Lucky you! We get done every year. Quote
