Guest Riggis Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hello, I have a C5 3.0 v6 exclusive which I bought in the summer of 2003 (it was 6 months old by then). It was regularly driven until January 2008, after which the car was just sitting in the garage untill now. The battery was dead, so I replaced it. Everything seems to work fine for now, except for the radio/CD player. I've tried all the buttons, but the part of the display where things like frequency are shown is always empty and it doesn't play the radio nor CDs. It doesn't want to eject the CD under the display, but I've tried ejecting the 6 CD box under the passenger seat, and they come in and out without a problem. I've also checked the fuse box and the fuse for the radio (number 20 in the manual) is okay. I even tried a new one to see if it would change anything but it stays the same. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Have you checked the fuse on the back of the stereo unit. Pull the stereo out and remove the multiplugs fron the back and youll see the fuse Quote
Guest Riggis Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I just took it apart, and yes, that fuse is dead. It's a transparent-purple one, and I couldn't find any spare fuse that looks like it, so I'm guessing I need to buy a new one or will one of those spare fuses suffice? Update: I just used one of the spare ones (marked 30), and now everything is back to normal. Thanks for the help! Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 The nimbers on the fuse is the amp rating. so putting a 30 amp into a 7.5 amp isnt adviable because if you have a power/surge/spike or fault it will fry the stereo unit. So get it changed A.S.A.P Quote
