Hi,

i have a citroen c5 2.0hdi, i done a routine service on it including changing the fuel filter (because it was difficault to start in the mornings), when i went to start it up afterwoulds it would develop a misfire at about 2500-3000 then if you then blipped the throttle it would die down and cut out, if you revved it slowly it wouldnt cut out,

i have tried various things and all have been unsuccessful, just wondering if anyone on here has had any problems such as this.

thanks,

matt

Have you checked the fuel lines for air leaks? Take a look at the leakoff pipes first of all as they can become brittle and crack or lose the end cap.

Recheck your diesel filter seals and pipes and recheck the areas you have worked on for lose wires or hoses

hi, yep they were the first things i done, i checked the return wasnt blocked and checked the injecters were returning the same amount of fuel, replaced the pressure regulator sensor in the fuel pump incase mirco filter was blocked, but just before the engine dies the low pressure fuel pump has a voltage drop of around 10v so obviously the ecu is picking up somthing it doesnt like then shutting the fuel supply off, but cant seem to find whats causing it,

i have stripped the main loom back to see of any broken wires, put modus on, shows up a couple codes one being p0190 fuel pressure monitering-- caused by the low pressure fuel pump when it shuts down i presume! really am stuck, have checked boost control valve swapped it over with the egr made no difference! have had low pressure fuel pump out to check for damage or anything untoward but seemed fine.

just really am stuck, anything stupid i have missed or a known fault?

THANK alot for your time to answer btw!

Hi

It seems to be a low pressure pump problem. To cause a 10V drop means a high current is being drawn. So could it be electrical arching taking place in the pump windings. I it may pay you to remove it and have it tested.

Hi, i dont think it could be that seen as when you gradually put on the revs it will rev to 5000+ fine its only wwhen you want to quickly accelerate/rev it shuts down after 3000rpm.... i think it is the ecu shutting the low pressure pump off... becuase its seeing somthing it doesnt like... thinking of replacing fuel rail pressure sensor, cant think of anything else... just dont want to waste another £90 on somthing if it doesnt solve the problem

Its a fuel issue youve got. The ecu is getting a low fuel warning probally from the pressure sensor on the diesel rail and closing your low pressure pump down to stop damage. Plug your scanner in and go to live data and see what pressure you have at the fuel rail. Also if its a bosch system then id say its the fuel filter housing

Hi,

yeah i did change the whole housing as i heard they can be troublesome!

i will carry on looking tomorrow morning and let you know how i get on with the live data!

thanks for your time,

matt

If it is a mark 2 then there is a known fault with the engine fuse box which can be replaced under warranty, could be the cause as mine dropped the live connection.
