Hello all, I have an 04 C5 HDi 2.0 estate and the seats are beginning to look really grimy, plus they are 'bobbly' in the front - no doubt due to heavy wear. They are light grey/blue with airbags and I was wondering if there is a sensible way to either re-cover them or if anybody could recommend aftermarket covers that fit well and look OK? I saw some on ebay but perhaps I saw too many types and became confused. Somebody might even know a source of genuine citroen OEM covers? I would be very grateful for some information - my teenage daughters are beginning to turn their noses up at using me as an all-hours taxi service! Cheers, John

Thanks for the fast reply Techbod. The front tyres are both surprisingly worn for their relative youth come to mention it. -
Drop Links (rods Front Suspension) 2002 2.0 Hdi C5
Johngartyuk replied to ando7p's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Lots of rattling noise when driving along the rubbishy roads round here in my 2004 HDi estate, I replaced the drop rods relatively easily, but still noise from the front end (mainly the drivers side) when going over bumps. Can any of you clever people give a few pointers as to what it is likely to be the cause? I would like to do any work involved myself if possible, for economic reasons! Many thanks -
Estate - Glass Part Of Tailgate Opens At Random
Johngartyuk replied to Randombloke's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Hi all Same thing happened to me over xmas, must have been the cold, icy weather or something. It was a real nuisance, and something of a security risk. After trying to remove the wiper arm and getting alarmed at the probability of it breaking, I tried a different approach - I removed the cover, removed the microswitch (which was full of rusty water) and soldered a slightly different one from RS components on, I used a bit of epoxy putty to make up the slight difference and it works really well. Cost of microswitch just over £4 after postage etc and it works perfectly. By the way, the actuator button was a pain to put back in, but there isn't really any need to remove it, something I found out at the end. -
Ordered one on the 10th Dec, I am told that the book now isn't out until January. Looks like we can all relax a little and settle down to another wait. We'll all be driving around in 5 year old 2008 model C5's by the time the manual eventually DOES come out!

Yes, as they say "Unmistakeably German"!

Thanks Iannez, <Looks like the switch will be going back on ebay!

I spent a while messing around experimenting and have now solved the wiring problem by more simple means and it works really well. I haven't caught any bike thieves yet, but by god I wouldn't want to be one if the pager goes off when we are all in the pub!

Hi again My 04 2.0 HDi VTR estate was recently upgraded with cruise control and by fitting a USB MP3 box, both things have been really useful, and were a doddle to fit and have certainly increased my enjoyment of the car. I have just bought an ESP/ASR switch, as I noticed the wiring for the switch is all there on the left hand side of the gear lever under the plastic lighter cover panel. Surely just by fitting the switch and getting the local dealer to enable ESP/ASR isn't all I need to do is it? There must be some additional equipment or electrickery required to upgrade? Your answers as always will be much appreciated john

Hi again, I have just bought a simple add-on pager unit. It has various connections for + or - triggers. The idea is to alert me if anyone has triggered the (factory) alarm, set off a bump sensor or cut a wire loop on my 04 2.0 HDi VTR Estate - I often have expensive bikes on the rear carrier, and it would give us a great deal of peace of mind to know that any attempt to tamper with them or the car would trigger a remote warning to us in the pub! From what I can hear, the alarm sounder is mounted in the rear NS of the car, I wonder if any of you nice gents can confirm this, and if it would be possible to connect in to the sounder output to give me the sort of protection I want. I suppose the next question is does anyone know the wiring colours as well? Thanks as always John

I took my '04 C5 2.0 HDi VTR estate along to Wessex Citroen, our local main stealer (Hereford) . It was booked in for 20 mins on their diagnostics to get the car enabled for a 6-disc CD autochanger (actually I have used an Xcar Link MP3/USB box) and from reading this thread picked up a Cruise control stalk on ebay that was meant for a Berlingo, but exactly the same part, so it was arranged to enable this as well. It took about 35 mins in the end, and I had to ring them up beforehand to get the keycode as I didn't have it. They managed to get both items done and charged me only £50.51 +VAT for the whole thing. As a result I'm absolutely chuffed to bits, the cruise works really well, and the MP3/USB box is fantastic. Wessex Citroen impressed me with their service, so thanks for putting me onto the idea of getting cruise enabled.

I tried cleaning the wheel with all sorts of stuff, but I couldn't decide if the actual wheel covering is plastic or leather? If leather it would take a harsher approach ie solvents, but it just kept crossing my mind that it was some sort of PVC and would be damaged I'm getting used to the wheel cover now, I have to because due to the tackiness its actually stuck to the wheel

Hi again everyone, my 04 HDi VTR Estate is great but has a very minor problem that is starting to get to me after a relatively brief ownership. The steering wheel is covered in some sort of black synthetic leather (I don't think its real leather) that seems to have broken down chemically and has become sticky to the touch, so much so that when I leave my hands in the same place for a while the wheel actually picks up my hand prints - its gone a bit like plasticene! have any of you other owners experienced the same thing? As a stop-gap measure before I find a s/h one on ebay (which may also be sticky!) I have fitted a steering wheel cover, which is fine but makes the wheel rim very fat. I've tried many and various cleaners on the wheel, there was a lot of black gunk came off at first, but its quite clean now, for a long moment I imagined the previous owner ran a sweet factory. Cheers John

Which Fuse Is The Accessory Socket Really On?
Johngartyuk replied to trubmij's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
On my 2.0HDi 04 VTR estate I 'lost' the accessory socket by the handbrake as well. The user manual wasn't much help so I went through all the likely fuses and found it to be F10 (15amp) it is marked in the manual as +Battery. There are 2 types of fuseboard a B1 or B2 type, mine is a B2 but in both types F10 is marked as +Battery so it should serve the same circuits (you'd have thought!) -
I had a good listen today, and it definitely uses the radio/CD speakers (well, it does on mine) it is very strange though, because the trafficmaster voice works even when the radio is off. I'm about to give up on this line of approach because I saw a good solution here Xcar Link I have asked them regarding suitability with my head unit, but so far they haven't replied. My friend has a similar thing fitted into his Mazda 6 estate and it works really well. In the meantime, I'm going to live with it!

Hi everyone I bought myself a nice Tomtom satnav and have fitted it in my 04 2.0 HDi estate (it works fine even with my athermic windscreen) and I am getting fed up with radio interference using the Tomtom internal wireless transmitter - I think it may be the fact that the car aerial is mounted way back above the tailgate. I was wondering if any of you tech people know how the (redundant) Trafficmaster unit communicates with the Radio/CD - is there some sort of Line-In connection on the back of the stereo? If so, do you know the wiring colours/terminal numbers? Or am I dreaming that such a simple solution to MP3/satnav/other audio equipment could exist? My Radio /CD is the standard Clarion I think its a PU2295A Any information would be most appreciated J

C5 2.0 Hdi (110) Does It Have A Particle Filter...?
Johngartyuk replied to a topic in C5 - Technical
The petrol XM was horrible, but I really loved the estate. It was so huge that I was able to transport 5 of us mountain bikers plus kit (lots!) plus bikes on roof/on towball mounted carrier all over the UK. The Xantias had nowhere near the capacity or comfort of this great car. The good news is that the C5 seems at least as big, so with the improved fuel economy I'm looking forward to more big trips with a full complement, as it was a bit sub-economical transporting only 3 of us in the Xants. -

C5 2.0 Hdi (110) Does It Have A Particle Filter...?
Johngartyuk replied to a topic in C5 - Technical
Hi all, I'm new to the C5 forum, so apologies in advance if I am revisiting old topics. Basically I am asking the same question as Mr Mark. I have a 54 plate (July 04) C5 HDI VTR 2.0 110 bhp estate and also would like to work out for sure if I have a particulate filter fitted, as it would be very good news to me if it doesn't! Where do I look on the vehicle for the filter/Eolys tank, or can the necessary information be given via the VIN? Any information that can be given would be much appreciated
