Hi Paul many thnaks for the quick reply. Ah, if only it had come with a Handbook! That is being addressed by the Dealer but they are waitng for Citroen to send it to them - hence the odd questions. THis new C5 Tourer is a Voyage of Discovery compared to my wonderful old Xantias. Lets hope the C5 proves to be as reliable and trustworthy as they were. cheers sixchannel

This may be the dumb question of the day - I have recently bought a 2010 C5 TOurer and it appears to have a USB socket in the armrest. Can it be used with my music memory stick (that is loaded with music mp3s) for playing through the radio or does it have another, technical purpose please? cheers sixchannel

I have complained to the Dealer that the DRL's on my Feb 2010 reg'd C5 Tourer (59 plate) that I have just bought have been de-activated, cos they don't work. He tells me that this model (2010 VTR+NAV 160) doesnt have them? I find that hard to believe. I am sure I can SEE them in the bottom of the headlamp glass. Am I right? Can you tell me what year DRL's were added as standard to the C5 Mk3 above please? cheers sixchannel

Towing Mirors For Mk3 C5 Tourer?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
And not expensive either! Many thanks, Sir -
Hi all I have just discovered (although no real surprise) that the old towing mirrors from my Xantia do not fit on the pretty shaped mirrors on "Ethel", our 2010 C5 Tourer.. Any members tow with a C5 Tourer and can advise / recommend on suitable (and hopefully not too expensive) mirrors that will do the job?? cheers sixchannel

Drl's - I Have Them But They Don't Work. Why?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Thank you. We have an independent Citroen guy a few miles away who has looked after my Citroens since my 1993 1.8i petrol. I'll give him a ring. -
Mynav-How Do I Delete Satnav Journeys?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
I've never had a SatNav and until now relied on the BIG Philips Map Book to get me where I wanted to be. With this MYNAV, it seems just SO hard to get it to do anything I want. I can see it not being used. All it should be, IMHO, is simply 1 - "where are you?" - tap in "Home" or a Post Code 2 - "where do you want to go?" - tap in a Post Code End of - - And what do you do if you need to go off route cos (say) the Motorway has been closed? Turn it off? -
Drl's - I Have Them But They Don't Work. Why?

Well tell her to come and switch them back on again!!! :D A Job for a Citroen specialist? -
My 2010 C5 Tourer has DRL's (I can see them in the headlamp array) but they dont come 0n. According to the Internet handbook that I DL'd, I can set them in Vehicle Parameters - Lighting but the option is not there. Is there an alternative way of setting them please. If its relevant, when I put the lights to "Auto" a message comes up saying they have been "de-activated". Is that part of the same problem? cheers sixchannel

Mynav-How Do I Delete Satnav Journeys?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Hi seefive Well I found "Reset to Factory Settings" and was a big brave boy and pressed it. It deleted the lot (!) but was surprised that it also deleted the radfio presets as well. Now the Game is - a) How to Set "Home" b) Find out how to set a route, and c) alter it if necessary. If you think I could look in the handbook, forget it - the car came without one and I have ordered one from Citroen but if the Web version is Owt to go by, I'll still be stumped. Any help always grovellingly appreciated. :) (now I know why I loved my Xantias - just start up and Go. Oh, sorry, just start up, wait half a minute, THEN Go! :D ) cheers sixchannel -
I have just parted with my much loved but very weary X plate Xantia :( and bought a 2010 C5 Tourer VTR+NAV 160. The SatNav, (MYNAV) which I just cant figure out at the moment (but I will) is loaded with previous Owners journeys and at least the first 20 show on screen. How do I reset the MyNav to zero so all his trips are deleted please?

I have an "X" plate Xantia 2.0hdi diesel. The battery is dying and I need to fit a new one. What is holding it in place as I cant lift it out once the terminals are undone? Can anyone "talk" me through it please? cheers Ian
-
Took the Xantia to my local Indeoendent Citroen specialist. He put a Code Reader on the car and it said "Front Rotor Fault" or similar. He re-set the car to Zero and, so far, there have been no problems with the brakes at all - everything behaving normally. What could have set it off in the first place? cheers Ian
-
Thanks again,Techbod! :D Curiously - the ABS light is now OFF, BUT this afternoon any braking ended in the 'kicking' from left to right when almost at a standstill as if it thought it was skidding. But - I have just come back from a short run out and everything seems to be working absolutely NORMAL now!!?? Go Figure! Come the weekend I will have a look-see. cheers Ian
-
Thanks Techbod - I'll take a look this weekend. Where IS the ABS Ring? I don't have a Haynes manual, so what do I look for? cheers Ian

I have just had the front discs and pads replaced on my 2000 Xantia. After 2 weeks, the ABS light has come on (and goes out only intermitently). It is usually on from a cold start but when the brakes are used for the first time and coming to a slow gentle braked stop at the end of my side road, I can feel the ABS kicking the pedal, which it shouldn't do. Once I have got it this does not happen and I have checked that the ABS is NOT working by trying a skid stop (safely of course!!) and the front wheels lock up. What is making the ABS stop working? cheers Ian

Xantia Forte And Lx-what Is The Difference?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
Thanks again, Colin. Nope! No speakers in the back doors either. I feel another trip to Halfords coming on. Why take them out? Go figure!! No handbook for the radio with the car so I have been pressing buttons to see what happens. I found one on the Audio button, which says "FAD" on the screen and that seems to give a mix between front and back (if I had any!!) speakers. I've set them so that the front ones are the loudest I can get. I presume that when I put speakers in the back, I'll have to tweak that setting? chers ian -
Xantia Forte And Lx-what Is The Difference?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
Hi Colin No speakers in the rear doors!! I think I'll be back at Halfords again at the weekend. :D If I want to check on the condition of the tweeters, how do I get them out of the dash? cheers Ian -
Xantia Forte And Lx-what Is The Difference?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
Hi Colin Very interesting info - Many thanks! The blind was really useful to someone who has a dog to keep cool in the back. Now I'm down to using one of them cheapo rubber sucker stick on thingys!! Speakers - I took the covers off the doors and as you suspected -NO SPEAKERS - just a pair of wires. So, off to jolly old Halfords for a pair and now the radio is VASTLY improved. Even Radio 2 is good. (is there any other better station??) The headlight protectors are a bit of quirky Citroen fun and I think I'll keep them on - just because they are different. Cleaning them is going to be a long winded job though - as far as I can see, you have to remove the centre panel before you can get them off for cleaning. cheers Ian -
Xantia Forte And Lx-what Is The Difference?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
Thanks to Colin and Techbod. The engine code is RHY and it does indeed run on 185 tyres. No "Forte" logos anywhere. Only the LogBook said it was a Forte otherwise I'd have believed it to be a LX mdel. Weird anomolies - no sunblind on parcelshelf (even my beloved and much missed 1993 Xantia had that!!) but it has 4 airbags. It has some odd plastic headlight protectors - surely not an after market fit? The radio cassette is utter crap and no speakers in the doors - again my 1993 Xantia had a better radio than this. No mudflaps either - Beancounters at work?? cheers Ian -
I have a 2000 X Xantia 2.0HDi which I have bought with a Licence Expired Trafficmaster and it keeps telling me, every time I drive, to immediately ring their Office and pay them. I don't want it - so how do I shut it up - PERMANENTLY? I dont mean reset the thing each time I switch on the ignition, - there must be a way of turning it OFF. cheers ian
-
When this happened to me on my 18i Xantia, it was the IGNITION SWITCH that was faulty. Go figure!! Does everything else work electrically? If I remember right, the Heated Rear Screen also didnt work because of this. If everything still DOES work, it might not be the Ign Switch. cheers Ian
-
My 2000 2.0HDi will need a new battery this Winter for sure. Is changing the battery just a simple matter of removing old one and fitting new one, or are things going to have to be Reset by the Dealer? cheers Sixchannel

2000 X Reg Xantia - Cd Player
Sixchannel replied to Gobby's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
I am in exactly the same situation.I have just bought a 2.oHDi LX (or is it a Forte?) regd Sept 2008 and they only have the Cassette Radio. (Corporate BeanCounters at work???) If I buy one from Halfords, will the Steering Wheel controls still work with it?? cheers sixchannel
