Towing With 2010 C5 Tourer Vtr+Nav-Any Tips?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
An extra note - I have "discovered" that my trusty old Maypole extension mirrors will not fit the highly tapered wing mirrors on the Mk3 C5. Any ideas? (Also posted in "Technical") Ian -
So John, what did you fit?? My old Maypoles (from my Xantia) won't fit to the highly tapered wing mirrors on the MK3 C5 Tourer. The season approacheth and I'm stuck. HELP! Ian

Update - Alternator in good nick, output fine. Battery is considered pretty good for a 5 year old battery. All connection and earth points good. I guess this one will be a mystery - until something breaks and gives the game away.lol!
-
Sorted! The mechanic had them enabled on his lexia simply hadn't ticked the box on the dashboard display.
-
Each time it happened to me, I just stopped the car, switched off and immediately re-started it. Its in for MOT at moment and I've asked them to check/test Alternator plus earth conns etc and battery test. Let's see if it picks anything up.

Hi John sorry for the delay in replying. As is typical, I have had no repetition of it since my last post!! I dont know if it would have reset. When it occurred we stopped, turned off the ignition and then restarted and the fault indication didnt come back - every time The plug in voltage reader can read anywhere between 12.5 and 14.8v. I have been told that these cars have "intelligent" alternators. If the battery is good, then the voltage will show around the 12.5 mark as its in the "running circuit" and if it needs a topping up, then it goes 13.5 - 14.8 as the alternator does its job. I checked - Its not April 1st, but is he having me on? I have used it all through Winter so far without any starting problems. At one point I didnt use the car for a week in the cold early January, and it started just fine with a fast turn-over. I'll keep you posted.

HI I have my 59 plate C5 Tourer in for Service at an Independent Citroen garage. They are ususally very good but this has them stumped. The car has DRLs fitted and they do not come on. I can see them "greyed out" on the dash display. (It may be that they have never been enabled from Delivery on Day 1 in 2010 to the Lease Company). The mechanic can get them to light via his Lexia - no problem, he can SEE that they are lit but he cant enable them on the roller switch on the steering wheel. So as soon as he disconnects, the lights stop working. Is there a step that he is missing out, or is there a Procedure he needs to follow. Any help greatly appreciated - I have to pick the car up at Lunchtime Tuesday. cheers ian?

No Eolys, Dpf Additive, Being Used
Sixchannel replied to aspire_helen's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I have a Mk3 59 plate 2.0 170 Tourer. I'd be interested to know how to check the Eolys level. -
I have a Mk3 tourer and I'd be interested to know what this is, how it works and where it is on the car. Ian

It will depend much on the weight of the caravan. Do you know the weight of your Tourer? Its a good idea not to pull more than appx 80% - if you can. That might let a lot of twin axle caravans out.

Have C5's Ceased Production Now?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Q - Who on Earth, High Up at Citroen, when the Cactus mock-up was revealed to him, said "Oooh!Thats's nice". (And not in the Mrs Browns Boys sense either!) Those plastic side panels just gotta be a Sales Killer. -
Have C5's Ceased Production Now?
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
I may have answered my own question. Today I got an e-mail shot from Citroen UK offering me the C5, C5 Tourer as well as the DS5 and that horrid looking C4 Cactus. . -
And if so, do you know when pleas?

WakeyTiger After 15 almost trouble free years of Xantias, I got my first C5 in July - a 2010 2.0 VTR+NAV Tourer on 42k. Apart from the poor ride (old-fashioned springs and shocks) its a good, if a bit quirky, car. After Xantias, i like Quirky. My other option at the time was the soul-less Ford Mondeo Titanium Tourer. What to replace it with in the future when the time comes? Probably a "Last of The Line" C5 2.0 EXCLUSIVE Tourer. I think they still made them in 2014 but have stopped now in favour of the DS5. I do regret not have searched harder for a low miler Exclusive at the time - I do miss that wonderful ride of the hydraulic suspension. Its still the class of the field IMO and why Citroen should drop it baffles me. So - round about 2018 I shall probably be looking for one. Lol!

Mynav Screen- Can I Turn It Off? - Solved
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Its even more bonkers than I thought! Do the "Mode" button thing with the cars lights off and when you turn them on, the dashlights are all fully lit, as you might expect. However, if you do it when the cars lights are ALREADY on, the dashlights go to Black Dash mode. Only Citroen could have thought that one up! Lol! -
Mynav Screen- Can I Turn It Off? - Solved
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Just a minor update to the above - if you do have the screen blacked out as above, when you turn the ignition off and then restart the car, the screen comes on as normal. If you want it off, you have to do the "Mode" longer press thing each time. cheers ian -
Mynav Screen- Can I Turn It Off? - Solved
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Thanks for that. Yes it does Paul. AFAICT When you hold it down again it rapidly cycles through Nav screen and Radio screen to what ever you were on when you turned it off. Cheers Ian -
Mynav Screen- Can I Turn It Off? - Solved
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
SOLVED - BY ACCIDENT! Can't find a way of editing the Header to add "solved" so - Whilst waiting for Er 'Indoors to finish shopping i was tinkering with the buttons on the radio and guess what I found out - On a Mk3 with MyNav, long press/hold down the "Mode" button on the radio unit ( bottom row, far left). After a second or so the screen goes black. Then just Mute the radio so as to kill the "music" and still keep receiving traffic reports. Ipso Fatso!! Cheers Ian -
A Few Questions About Mk3 Tourer - Buying
Sixchannel replied to kaliope's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Denis First link does not work. Second link looks like a tidy 2011 VTR. Like the alloys! -
Wrong forum. Look at Index and go to BERLINGO forum. Not sure if this is spam - no year, no engine info, no details. Suss??

Tyres For C5 Mk3 Tourer 160
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
For sure I would only ever go for the correct spec (W) tyre. Come Spring I shall check on Nexen6000 and on the Avons ZV5's. Is it still the right thing to do to to put the rears on the front and they new ones on the rear? Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. -
Tyres For C5 Mk3 Tourer 160
Sixchannel replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
V speed rating surely would be more than adequate for the car being 149mph, but W would then have a higher load rating too as construction would be more robust to cope with me running my C5 at 168mph. Lol! -
My car is 2010 C5 2.0HDi Tourer 160. The rears are a pair of Avon ZR5s 225/55/R17 101W and the fronts are a “Pace PC70” and a “Cardon Series”, both 225/55/ZR17 W101. All are also marked “Extra Load” apart from the Cardon. It will be time to change the fronts after the Winter as a) there is appx 4 mm tread on them now and b) the grip in the wet is cr – er – poor. I know original fit was Michelin Primacy but that may have had more to do with a Contract with Michelin and Citroen rather than them being the best tyre for the car. (I am fully aware of how it works between the tyre makers and the car manufacturers) What does the Team think are good Aftermarket tyres for the C5 Mk3? The various websites give too many subjective and/or confusing views. I am looking for a REASONABLY PRICED tyre that is quiet, that will give good wear AND have decent roadholding in the wet. AFAICT there is no correlation between the prices of mid-range and top range tyres and their performance. Any thoughts?

Sorry to shanghai this topic for a moment but - does all that apply if I go to Halfords (lol) to get the battery changed? Will they know to go through all that malarkey?
