  1. Hi on Sunday i fitted an Egr blanking plate (between the casting on the end of the intercooler pipe and the corrigated pipe, near the bulkhead, center), on start up the car now feels smoother, even first thing in the morning and it seems to pick up better, coincidence ? The bad news however, after restarting the car after it's first journey (of 17 miles) the engine management and service light came on, along with the 'antipollution fault' message ? Would blanking off the EGR valve cause this?
  2. Hi thats exactly right, the car always shakes when cold, this improves to 'no shake' when the revs increase above 1000rpm. When warm it's definitely better, but not always. The car performs very well during normal driving with no warning/management lights. I will be checking the bottom engine mount at the weekend, if thats not gone then i think it will be time for a diagnostic ? Would it damage anything if i pull an injector plug off 1 at a time and see if there's a difference in tickover, ie no difference means that cylinder isn't firing ? Can't understand why it improves when warm though, sensor or expansion (if its the mount)?
  3. Hi yes i think it does have the dual mass flywheel, it's the 110 bhp. Would an engine mount vibration almost disapear above 1000rpm and be at it's worst on cold start up?
  4. Thanks, i will look underneath at the weekend
  5. Hi where abouts is the third engine mount (can see 1 either side of the engine)?
  6. Thanks, i will investigae tomorrow and report back.
  7. Hi how would i know if they had worn, are they hydrolic ?
  8. Hi when I started my C5 2.0 HDI today (from cold), I could feel a suddering or vibration through the drivers seat. When I accelerated slightly (to 1000rpm) it smoothed out and disapeared. I looked under the bonnet whilst the engine was ticking over and the engine appeared to be shaking forwards/backwards but when revved it becomes still? When warm the vibrating is still there at junctions, but not all the time? Any ideas out there, the car is a 2004 and has done 80K.
  9. Hi thanks for your reply. It doesn't seem to have done it again since, however it does have a vibration when started from cold. The tacho doesn't jump about, but the car feels lumpy and rough at tickover. As soon as the car is driven it seems ok?
  10. Hi today whilst stuck in a traffic jam, i noticed that the car was vibrating at tickover (about 800rpm). The vibration could be felt through the steering wheel and pedals etc, but disapeared when i raised the revs to 1000rpm, the car also had more of a rattle to it? The car is a 2004 HDI manual estate with 77k on the clock. Are there any commons problems that would cause this, it almost feels like it's not running on all cylinders below 1000rpm?
  11. I ended up buying the guide tube as well. The inner cable was well and truly seized into the guide tube with no way to remove it. All seams well again with the handbrake.
  12. +1. My Hdi has done 76K and the clutch bites near the top and my previous C5 Hdi was the same. The clutch lasted about 140K.
  13. Hi the pipes at the top of the front suspension appear to be dry (where they join the metal pipes)? I have recently bought the car (76k miles) but without service history, could it just have never been topped up? Do they leak at the rear and how much fluid does the resovoir hold? I will keep adding fluid (when it arrives) until i get the level below the basket, then check again for leaks unless advised otherwise? many thanks
  14. Hi finally obtained LDS fluid via ebay at only £4.50 per litre, compared to £12.50 + Vat at Citroen. I set the suspension to the bottom thinking it would just need topping up (couldn't see any fluid in the resovoir) and ended up putting the full litre in and still the fluid isn't at the bottom of the basket? Where has it gone, does it normally disappear with use or should i be looking for a leak?
  15. Hi the replacements i have seen look like a full length inner cable with the front bit of outer cable already fitted (one end appears to push into the rigid outer cable/guide tube thats fixed to the chassis). Are these any good or do you need to but the whole thing/guide tube ? http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/pict/1304550019986464_1.jpg
  16. Hi just got around to looking at the handbrake on my 2004 c5 (it pulls up nearly vertical but still works) and found the n/s cable is completely snapped (near the thick part in front of the bracket). Having looked at a few on ebay, they appear to come as an inner cable and just the front piece of outer cable which joins at the thick bit? Is replacing just a question of removing the original, then sliding the inner through the rigid outer case bracketed to the car?
  17. Hi i went to check the suspension fluid? but couldn't see any below the resovoir basket. 3 local autospares shops have tried to sell me LHM fluid, is this correct or should it be something else?
  18. Hi many thanks, that did the trick !
  19. Hi how do i remove the gearknob from my 2004 2.0 HDI (the alloy top is chipped)? many thanks
  20. Hi i have just put a full leather interior into my 2004 VTR (from a 2003 exclusive), all the plugs/wires for the 3 way adjustable seats were there under the carpet and everything worked without any issues.
  21. Hi are the rear seats the same and interchangable on a C5 2003 hatchback and the estate version? many thanks
  22. Hi where is the fuel pump located on a 54 reg berlingo 2.0 hdi?
  23. where abouts is the fuel pump/regulator located on a 54 reg berlingo 2.0 hdi (can't see any access from inside the boot floor)?
  24. Hi our 54 reg berlingo hdi has an intermittant fault which throws up the engine management light and limp mode. Basically it splutters for a second or so every now and then (never from cold - only after a short stop), which brings on limp mode, which then clears/resets after a restart. The citroen diagnostics said it was the fuel regulator which has now been changed (the one on the engine) however 4 weeks later the problem has returned. Is there another regulator on the pump itself, and where is the pump located?
