  1. It's bolt on, had similar last year & repairers bought the wing in ready painted. Shame the police were too lazy to prosecute the (traced) hit & run idiot responsible.
  2. Brakes; been away twice for a week at a time this year, leaving the car parked up. Both times I found the brakes either stuck on the handbrake - not freeing off the drums, having to rev a bit and drive off to free them, and the discs sounded hissy as if scraping away for a while. It looks like the drums & discs need virtually everyday use in these beasts. Maybe the steel in the discs is more susceptible to rust than other cars as even a 2 day park up can cause the hissing noise from the brakes.
  3. @ £160 for a decent dealer; last one was £115 but rubbish dealer. If the car has no known problems then a cheaper dealership may do but if anything needs checking beyond the standard service list of jobs, avoid.
  4. A brief warning about Citroen's own touch up paint. The bright red dries to a darker crimson and stands out as a poor match. Don't know about the other colours and how well they blend in. It may have been a bad batch but an aftermarket paint would be a first choice for the red C1's.
  5. The C1's bonnet design is very vulnerable to stone chips with most of the curved surface exposed to the "firing line" of debris & with the winter salts the rust may have appeared more quickly if chipped. Do they appear to be chips, or forming from beneath without any damage visible to the top paint coat ?
  6. The 30,000 mile one is due, booked in for £99 plus VAT. Another dealer wanted £145. Is the £220 major service something out of the ordinary to have such an incredible cost ?

    New C1

Looks like something dragged out of a Pacific abyss. ...and to think I once thought the Ford Cockroach / Sierra was the ugliest car ever made. Why can't they leave well alone if the original design works ?
  8. Contacted Citroen UK HQ last year about this, and they claimed it would make no difference to the level of dirt pulled back against the rear. Doing @ 300 miles a week in winter when it's too cold to wash the glass as it just adds ice overnight, it seemed a good idea at the time.
  9. It's certainly making a mess of the not so durable chrome on the rear window/hatch lock body.
  10. Same happened 3 weeks ago, new mirror @ £7.50 from dealer, just a push fit. Make sure they give you the correct side as they are handed & the parts list gives drivers side which for a French car is the opposite one. The local Keystones had no interest - surprise surprise - but got the details & claiming of idiots insurer just to hack off the idiot. Any luck with reg. no. etc especially as it's an offence to leave the scene etc ?
  11. Locally, @ £55 like for like. With 24,300 miles, the front tyres still have a few thou. of life left so may as well use the same if they last this long.

I suspect a faulty garage petrol pump but is this possible ? Filled the tank up to when the nozzle stops due to detecting a pressure i.e. petrol in the filler tube - and re-filled with 19.8 litres after 262 miles with 3 people in car, fair bit of luggage, motorway at 70 mph all the way. Defective nozzle meant fuel spilled out so the tank was apparently full. That's 60 mpg. Maybe airlocks in the tank or faulty garage pump undermeasuring fuel delivered but this seems an unlikely figure; but welcome if real. Anyone confirm this is possible with a 1 ltr Vibe ? I only get 62-63 mpg to work, self only in car at 60 mph on duel carriageway, so a 2 mpg drop with 2 more people, heavy luggage & 10 mph faster appears unreal.
  13. It's a slight shake noticable only when standing & idling; no problems on the road and feels as if the timings slightly out on one cylinder only and causing a vibration - but the engine runs fine and nothing apparent when it's above idle or moving. Did 520 miles at the weekend at 70 almost all of the way, 3 people & overloaded with camping gear and engine ran perfectly so it's not a major thing - more of an irritation. A bit like a single or twin cylinder m/cycle when it's stationary and a slight judder / shake happens. Maybe it's always been there and am more sensitive to the car & it's less obvious noises now after a year but I'm sure it has only appeared in the last few thou. miles but isn't getting any worse. In t' gude ole days, you could tune a car yourself or go to another garage but these computer controlled engines seem to be enslaved to dealers & their equipment.
  14. Last few thousand miles the car has had a mild vibration noticable when stationary as if the engine has a cylinder out of timing, but last service asked for this to be specifically checked. Garage claimed nothing found but this may have been laziness or disinterest. It may just be getting quite atuned to the car after 21 thou. miles and noticing something minor but it's like a motorcycle with a single cylinder engine and the mild shake from it. Anyone else find this as I'm sure this was not the case for the first @ 15 thou. miles and a recent development as the engine was very smooth then.
  15. Agree with the above - it's a defect and should have been fixed. Letting it go on just gives the dealer a belated excuse to ignore it by possibly blaming you for not getting it seen to earlier (conveniently forgetting that they ignored it). Would an E-Mail to Citroen UK headquarters help ? Describing the unhelpful dealer & response would protect you & the warranty as you have proof of having tried to get it attended to at the highest level.
  16. Car is 15 months old and will hit the 20,000 miles mark tonight so this sounds very tempting but may wait until the warranty expires, for obvious reasons of nothing to lose then if it goes wrong - apart from a huge bill. As the old Govt. grants were allegedly for cars 1 year or less to pay part of the conversion (is this still true ? It was in 2003) then the car is now past the "incentive" date anyway. Thanks for sharing the data & idea.
  17. A question. Does Citroen's warranty still apply to the cars after the conversion i.e. is it a recognised mod. ? Would'nt want to give them an excuse to write off problems unconnected to the LPG conversion.

Much the same @ 62 mpg but not really bothered about the type of fuel, especially as it would cost more to travel to certain garages for the stuff. @ 55 miles per day with 1/3 in 30-40-50 zones and 2/3 of route on dual carriageway.

    Faults

The new unit has been in since June and the only problem now is if the car will take a "certain" hill on the route to work in 5th or 3rd that day, irrespective of weather etc. Strange, but at least the engine has not cut out again - not fun when 1/2 way past a lorry in the outside lane of a dual carriageway. To repeat an earlier point, I would have been happier if the dealer had definitively traced the fault to the ECU instead of trying all the sensors and saying "well, it must be the ECU as it's the only thing left". Not a huge confort if the fault was elsewhere and ready to strike again !
