simple '''''fix''''' youngest just bought a 2007 1.6 petrol HDi VTR+ ((needs the drivers seat height adjuster sorting and finding a direct replacement seat is proving an issue)) BUT as it was his birthday more as a joke i bought a set of 2 air fragrancing capsules @ £6 each - thought it can't be too hard to reload them so using the one left in the dashboard 'socket' soaked it in 1 of those reed fragrancing refills about 10ml less than an hour it had absorbed the liquid - sealed it in cling film ready for the time it needs swapping - sorted

2007 C4 5 Door Drivers Seat Height Mechanism
scimitargtc replied to scimitargtc's topic in C4 - General
thanks - plan b it is then - seat out one day when son's at work and he can't see his car in bits :o -
Youngest son has just bought himself a 2007 1.6 manual petrol C4 VTR+ in met black (to go with wifeys 2012 met black VTR+ HDi EGS!) car condition is in good nick etc etc etc - 1 known issue was the drivers seat height adjuster is u/s - dealer tried and failed to fix in time for collection so we had the choice of taking it back at some point or reducing the price - we took the latter option assuming it was just the handle being loose and not engaging properly - er no.... before I start pulling out the seat/trim any tips/ideas/suggestions - on line searches haven't borne any fruit this morning - if no-one has done this before I'll take photos etc when I do it which will be in a couple of weeks...

well she's broken down for the second time in 4 months same issue fault code PO268 'no.3 cylinder injector high' at least this time the handbrake didn't jam on - AA reset code and she's booked into dealers (different dealership) - to me sounds like a wiring loom issue or injector itself (all they did last time allegedly was clear the ecu and reload the software) - at this point I discover the service book has gone walkies (sure it was there when it went in for the first breakdown - too late to discuss with the dealer) SO I need another 1 and transpose the service records into it -- would someone check theirs please and give me the reference and print date (it's a March 2012 with 109g co despite dealer selling as 98g [some registered in March 2012 badged 'airdream' did have the lower emissions] and services are 12500 miles or 2 years whereas July 2012 onwards are 12500 or 1 year). Thanks in advance

had a good look at the Citroen site again and from picture 16 it appears there is a simple crimped connection into the BSI - WOW! not convinced YET - speaking to a CANBUS converter supplier at the moment to see what they reckon,,,, charge by CUK dealer will be mainly labour to do it 'their' way update as and when I have spoken to the canbus people and local dealer
-
The car is a 2012, the ref to other years was what I've done previously... thanks for the tip re service.citroen great site I'd not found before - so basically it's a Meta aka 'every man and his dogs' accessory supplier kit with bespoke plugs - 'proper' install process is labour intensive, the elecs are plug and play as it were - so I'll get a move on and price up :)
-
2012 eHDi EGS - now used to relying on company Astra's FRONT and rear sensors want to add to wifey's C4 - always used to go out an buy aftermarket kits even with recent cars latest being 2008 BUT with the C4 CANBUS wiring don't believe splicing into the brake light 'loom' will be a good idea if experience of hard wiring a GSM pager into the battery is anything to go by --- direct connection to the earth on the fuse board above the battery, and direct connection to the battery positive 'bar' on the front of the battery cover - almost immediately 'engine' fault displayed on the dash with the windows only rising an inch of so at each press of the switch -- as if lost their 'set' position - getting each one up and then holding the switch to 'set' worked for a couple of starts then back to square 1 & occasionally the radio wouldn't play -- scan says an EGR fault,,,,, :( SO disconnected the pager and lo and behold all OK - no faults logged, no repeats not as if I spliced into anything - simple direct connection -- so I'm glad I've not drilled the bumper dealer accessory web site wants £265 fitted inc vat --- need to visit a dealer to see what they'd fit as the www.accessories.citroen.co.uk accessories video at the point of showing front fogs shows a sensor mounted next to the fog which looks suspiciously like an after market sensor........... anyone else successfully fitted them or got a better price out of a dealer?

yup you got it in 1 -- RR P38A ali outer steel inner = chemical reaction aka 'not good' so it seems that weight saving is actually cocking up overall quality despite some 30+ years experience by manufacturers
-
Been to EH's bodyshop today - not fazed at all - had a 2 year old in last week holed from the inside - seems an issue with ali outer (did the magnet test) and what I'll assume is a mild steel inner pressing new bonnet needed --- apparently Citroen 18 months ago painted - as returns came in within 12 months now replacing with a new bonnet.... wifey not impressed so anyone fancies a 2012 1.6 HDi VTR+ egs 6 speed auto once the bonnet is replaced she's up for sale (car not wife!) at a loss of £3k in 6 months - not impressed and so sad that Citroen have lost a customer - ex Xsara Hdi 182k and C3 HDi
-
been over her with a fine toothcomb - only the bonnet affected - back edge also has severe corrosion - Evans Halshaw booked in for Wed to review submit claim to CUK so wait and see
-
well well - year old purchased from dealer - just spotted today corrosion the size of a 50p under the paint on the bonnet on the leading edge at the 'V' checking along the bonnet there are several more rust bubbles under the paint - in the under side of the bonnet edge where the metal is folded the paint on the edge is flaking off along the entire length --- this corrosion apart from being totally unacceptable has only become visible within the last 2 week, so a call to the dealer Monday to invoke the paint warranty - anyone else having issues or have I bought a lemon......

Got myself a unit, loaded software -- this was 3 months ago - been unable to get to it since until today - thought.... before I plug it in would check the software fires up -- fires up OK but tried to go into the documentation tab and it wants a user name/password - don't remember being asked to create these when installing -- will plug it all in and see what happens but wondered if anyone has pearls of wisdom... ongoing saga with the tax banding - despite an 'A' appearing on the tax disc DVLA (UK) says it's a Band B -- CUK eventually advise it is indeed a Band 'B' Reg 1/3/12 eHDiEGS airstream VTR+ :later brochure says its 98grams but CUK homologation dept says 109 & 112bhp -- MMmmm not a happy bunny esp as main dealer has still to supply a service book (1 in the car when we checked was for a totally different vehicle!!! [handbook not present on collection and they had to raid their new car compound to get 1] - to be honest if I'd realised the service book was 'iffy' also would have pulled the deal there and then --- expect this level of incompetence from an 1980's main dealer of any marque but 2012 REALLY!!!! CUK says dealer will be in touch (as of 17/12) mmm surprise surprise I think my detailed log of calls will need to be brought into play,,,,

no prob with tailgate - heavy old beast as well - suggest opening air vents in the car and seeing if it then closes OK - if so it as others suggest internal air pressure if not there's an issue.... pulleys etc were replaced on Friday 1.5hrs instead of the 2.5 quoted so good, missing service book still not replaced and reception knew nowt about it MMMmmmm - so no ideas who to call if she breaks down (highly unlikely I know but...) or whether I need to register a tfr of warranty to myself - cheeely so and so's said front wipers starting to smear and we can replace for £29.90 and oil just off the max level and can top it up for £10.80 --- er I've had it 10 days, done less than 150 miles in her --- "I expect YOU to have checked/replaced the wipers AND top up the oil" - they did offer to wash and vac it (knowing I was on a tight schedule!) but feared getting a charge for it  Gearbox - is 'as it is' try lifting off slightly when you know it's going to upshift (does work but not what wifey was expecting in an auto [sorry a 'manual with auto/hydraulic actuator'] abs/esp etc 'as it is' ie no 'launch control' so whenever I get my hands on it I'll wear a flat cap and brouges... Oh and I noticed yesterday 2 chunks of metal out of the under edge of the windscreen end of the bonnet and matching scrapes on the wiper arm - managed to adjust ever so slightly to relieve but kicking myself that I didn't carry out a detailed check - assumed (ie made an ass out of myself) that a 6 month old demo from a main dealer would be as near as spot on as new
-
Your'e right of course - just had a poke with a small screwdriver and it is a small insertion hole for something-- THANKS

Ok, thanks for replies re auto gear chnage quality - I'm going to ask dealer to recalibrate, also found out the DVLA has the car reg'd as 109g CO with a 6 month tax fee of £0 but an annual fee of £20!!!whereas it actually has 98g - 'tax disc' shows £nil to there's a DVLA glitch there then! By to today's question - spent a good 30 seconds last night trying to find the ignition key hole in the dark and judging when I've looked at it today in daylight so have others if the surface scratches to the outer metal rim as anything to go by - car of this class/price thought it would be illuminated - there is indeed what appears to be an led on the barrel surround - anyone have 1 and that works before I go 'off on one' and add it the 'new car sort it out' list?
-
Just purchased ex-demo 1.6HDi auto - compared to my Auris hybrid CVT ie no steps in gear changes this still is awful - gear changes are rough: another forum suggested the box can/should be recalibrated - read somewhere I can do this myself as the egs box is 'adaptive'?? Dealer missed the manu recall 'MNX' = replace all aux belt pulleys and belts. DUH! I should have checked up on before I handed over my hard earned cash but believed a dealer would have made sure (hand book was also missing and they raided their new car yard to get 1 + the service book turns out to be for a totally different car - that's a week to get a new 1 promise).... as the car is going in for the pulleys/belts next week best option will be to tell them to recalibrate the box but wondered what other experiences there are out there

what specifically do you need to know - eldest son has just sold his 2002 Mk2 HDi @ 118k (inherited the manual when I traded my 2000 HDi @ 182k) and has the Haynes manual ref 3751 and I've just fished out my Picasso Haynes manual ref 3944 - although we didn't come across major stuff over the 335k miles we did between us pretty much most stuff is covered methinks... Quite happy to sell on both for say £12 + post which is cheaper than new and should be less than e bay PM if you want to

Racking my brains as to the layout* --- I still have my set of cross rails and fixings from my Fiat Uylsse Mk1 (Thule lockables)same as Synergie but if I recall the T tracks were in there as standard whereas on my Mk 2# they weren't on the basic TDS as I had to buy the T tracks separately. Suggest popping into Halfords to look through their Thule roof rail catalogue and asking the local CUK dealer - if my rails and fixings are any use I'd be happy to sell them on,,,,, * sounds as if the Synergie layout is similar to the mk2 (C8)# as on my mk2 Ulysse had to ripout the roof trims to bolt in T tracks ((£40 in the 2004 catalogue real life price 2010 £160!))

C3 Cd Multi Changer
scimitargtc replied to scimitargtc's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
-
2008 1.4 HDi C3 - got the right 5 disk Ao4 cd changer - plugged it in - heard the right noises but no option to play cd's ---- some sites reckon only cuk can enable the thing which I am having trouble accpeting - unplugged battery in the hope the can bus system would 'see' the new cd and voila --- all suggestions welcome

need to remove steering wheel but am struggling with the airbag - haynes says unscrew 2 screws from behind but a mirror seems to show 3 tabs - thing is b4 i bust it is this right & which way do the tabs need to be pushed to release the airbag module
-
2002 Hdi Hatch - Haynes manual which covers up to 2000 MY says screws in the back of the airbag housing behind the wheel - 2002 looks as if there are 3 tabs but well aware of how brittle plastic gets before I go all cack handed and smash the thing any useful tips? Plus I need to reset the air bag lamp - ECU replaced with an identical unit (model refs etc all the same) but lamp still on - tried to use my code scanner ELM327 (generic laptop connected interface) but it won't connect - 'sees' the car but won't connect - used to work fine on my 2000W Hdi & stil works on my Fiat JTD 2004 so something amiss hardware wise - before I shell out more money any ideas who sells the 'best' gear at most cost effective prices???
