Thanks for that. Very useful - though pretty much what I expected - and probably pretty much what you expected too, I guess. I know exactly what you mean about the brilliant door pockets in the old Berlingo. Perfect for one's Volvic. I don't know if any other car comes close. Certainly not at the price. :D

Depressing. I hadn't realised it was that bad. So the choice is to hold on to what you've got or buy second hand. Basically they have deleted everything decent. It seems like strange marketing. A range of good cars at reasonable prices disappears, to be replaced by slow cars at reasonable prices, or good cars at unreasonable prices. This is the sort of marketing one would have expected in East Germany 30 years ago. Don't give the customer what they want. Give them what you think they should want.

I quite like the appearance of the new one. My Berlingo is 2002, before the facelift. I didn't like the facelift at all, and think the new one is a definite improvement. However, it is bigger, fatter, heavier, thirstier, slower, more expensive . . . so my choice would still be for the Berlingo First. Well, I'm glad to see the Berlingo First is still there on the Citroen UK website. But I'll also be excited to see the new vehicle. Must keep my eyes open for one. The price a little steep. I see the 110 bhp Hdi is listed at £14,499 - though I see it is discounted on the web to £12,205, whereas the cheapest 90 bhp Hdi is discounted to £9676. £2,500 is a lot for 20 bhp. And seeing as we Berlingo owners don't like to throw our money around, it will be interesting to see how many of the 110's they sell. I think I'll be hanging on to my 1.6 petrol for a few years yet.

Where did you see it? Are they in the dealers now? Well - I guess that's why Citroen are keeping the old one on the market. It will be interesting to see how sales of the old and the new compare - especially in France. Who knows - perhaps the old one will outsell the new?

Porky - I'm a little surprised to hear that you find 165/65 R 15 tyres hard to source. I would have thought that if you give your local garage / mechanic / dealer a couple of weeks notice, they would have no difficulty getting them for you. Alternatively, you could get them at http://www.mytyres.co.uk By the way, was your Berlingo originally fitted with 165/65 R 15 tyres? I ask, because my early 2002 Berlingo came with 175/70 R 14 - and I would have expected yours to be the same as mine. Personally, I think it is best to stick with the size of tyres that the car originally came with.

I once had a Picasso as courtesy car. It was OK. Best thing about it was the 1.6 Hdi 110 engine. I really liked it. Worst was the absence of rev counter. Overall, I preferred the feel of the Berlingo. Light foot? Well, I try. And I avoid towns and cities where possible.

You ditched a Berlingo for a Picasso???? :( Well, now that I've got over the shock, I hope you don't mind me asking how much you got for it - and what sort of mpg you were getting. I just calculated that over the last 50 fills, my 1.6 petrol Berlingo was getting about 39.5 mpg. (Over the last 20 fills, it was actually hitting 40!)

Replacement? Actually, that's three or even four (we'll compromise and say three and a half). But seriously, why go for replacement? Keep the old one and get a new one as well. You can never have too many Berlingos, you know!

Looks interesting. I note that a 110 bhp HDi engine will finally be available. I also note that the old Berlingo will remain available alongside the new one. It will be interesting to see if anyone tests the two of them alongside each other. After all, for true believers, those will be the only two cars to consider. :(

Looks like evolution, rather than revolution. The most interesting development is the front windows. There seem to be small fixed windows just behind the A pillars. (I'm sure there is a name for them, but can't remember what it is.)

Welcome. As it happens, I own a 2002 1.6i silver Multispace with 67k on the clock, and a cambelt change 5 months ago. Cracking car. Nice to know it's still worth about £3k!

I think panoramic roofs are a great idea. Mind you, I do look just about everywhere when I am driving, even the road ahead occasionally :P

I was looking at the AA web site road tests http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/cartestreports/index.jsp I looked at the Berlingo road test, and then, in an idle moment, looked at the test on a similar car made by another French manufacturer. Under the heading "Driver appeal", were the words "No car in the budget MPV sector will ever match the likes of Ford's Focus for driver involvement, but the Kangoo is head and shoulders above Citroen's Berlingo and Fiat's Doblo." I found this difficult to believe. I've certainly never heard that said. Anyone out there driven a Kangoo? Any idea what the AA are talking about? I hasten to add that I'm with Green Flag.
