  1. Thank you, One thing that surprised me is that a mk1 2.0 HDI Auto is cheaper to tax than a 2007 2.0 diesel Auto. So for all of its extra emission equipment and 6 speed auto, it would still cost me more to tax than my old 2001 HDI 4 speed auto!!!
  2. Hi Sold both of my C5 mk1 Diesels last year. Now wish I still had them!. So looking to get another. Want to get something a bit newer, maybe 2005-2008. But lots of bad reports on FAP issues etc. I also understand you now cannot take them off due to mot issues. So should I just get another 2.0 HDI mk1 or risk a later car. Thanks
  3. Hi Thanks, pump ordered
  4. Hi Noisy running has been diagnosed as air con pump bearings. But dont know which one to get!. The part number plate has fallen off. Loads on ebay but will a manual trans one fit does anyone know. Thanks
  5. Hi Thanks- I ordered a new pump with sender unit, a new sealing ring and gasket. I managed to undo the old ring quite easily this evening, so now just wait for the new bits to arrive.
  6. Hi My 2002 HDI has been perfect for the past 6 months. But noticed over the past week or so when I put key in ignition and before the starter turns the fuel pump sounded rough. Yesterday took nearly 10 minutes before it would start and this morning no start. Noticed could not hear any priming sound so would assume the lift pump has stopped working. Due to previous noisy priming, I would assume need new pump. Is the pump in the tank and how easy is it to get to and change, any special precautions in the change Thanks
  7. Hi Thanks, this is great info.... I did a full service before Christmas but could not see how to get the pipes off. Next dry day I will give it a go. regards
  8. Hi Does anyone know how to get the pipes off the fuel filter housing. I assume the ring just unscrews but cannot see how the pipes come off Thanks
  9. Hi Was going to give my 87k miles C5 diesel a good service. (Recently had cam belt changed) I will do the oil/filters etc (Dont have a FAP as a 2.0 HDI). But was wondering what else worth doing to prolong the life of my car, ie does the suspension fluid need changing etc Thanks
  10. Hi I replaced the battery but as the air temperature drops so does the the speed of my starter motor in the morning. I assume I need a new starter motor. But I seem to have 2 issues 1/Where is it on the engine, I cannot see it! 2/I tried to order one from eurocarparts but even after putting in my reg I was given 6 different choices all seemed slightly different both specification and price (£69 to £275) Any help would be appeciated. (I am waiting for my Haynes manual to come in the post) Thanks
  11. Switched on this morning and fuel gauge went to max!. Yesterday only had half a tank. Also could not reset the mpg/average speed computer. Tried putting in some more diesel but did not sort, so disconnected battery and after five minutes reconnected. Seemed to have sorted the problem. I was expecting loads of expense to sort... ps ordered a new exhaust gave my reg etc. arrived quickly but did not fit, so trying to get my money back so I can try again.
  12. Hi After some searching I managed to get a set of C5 Alloys from a 2002 (So 15inch same as my steels) 4 legal tyres (2 are almost new) for £30! So a good deal.
  13. Hi Strange one this, but if I open any door the tailgate opens. (Not just unlocks but physically comes ajar, so if you drive off without realising it will fly open if you go over a bump). Happens every time a door is opened. Normally the fault is the tail gate won't open but mine is the other way round. Any thoughs Thanks
  14. Hi Both of our 2002 C5s have standard wheels (205 65 15 tyres) Both cars will need a tyre or 2 by the winter. I have been quoted £55 each for new tyres. Looking on ebay I pick up second hand wheels and tyres for little money, especially Peugeot 406 wheels does anyone know if will fit. Any other wheels that may fit as well!
  15. Hi Purchased a replacement fuel filter a few weeks ago but not sure if any special procedure needed to change. ie Do I need to depressurize the fuel system and does it need repriming Thanks
  16. Thanks I have sent them a email for a quote regards
  17. Hi Thought the exhaust sounded a bit loud this morning!. Had a look underneath and it looks as though I need a new system. Downpipe flexi split, cat rusty and blowing on the straight section, back box blowing. (No particulate filter on my car as its a 2.0) Any ideas of the cheapest option?. No cats on ebay, and a local tyre/exhaust company quoted over £400. Syatem seems to come in 3 parts.1/Flexi.2/Cat and straight pipe.3/Back box Thanks
  18. Hi Not sure if that is what the manual change feature is called on my 2 x HDI 2.0 C5s. But used it today for the first time and found it so much better than leaving it in D. It makes the drive so much smoother, especially as you can change down later and change up earlier. Only wish there was 5 speeds rather than 4 as 30mph is to slow for 3rd and over 2000 revs in 2nd. But even so using the gears helps with performance and you lose all the hunting between ratios at town speeds...
  19. Cannot believe its got so many bids as well!. Hope for my 2 then, 1 with 53k and the other at 85k

  21. Hi Started off good yesterday, changed the drop link (Had to cut off in the end), but now no more knocking. Changed the air filter, and replaced the battery. Getting dark by then and I put the battery terminals on the wrong way!!!!!. Lots of sparks and plenty of heat....(Black & Green terminals confused me in the half light) Thought I had wrecked the car. But after putting the terminals on correctly, all seems ok. Checked everything and all still works and no warning lights so may have been lucky...
  22. Hi Loved our C5 so much have purchased a 2nd. Car drives ok and got home 100 miles with no issues. Problems I have found. 1/Low speed knock/rattle from front end, passed mot last week!. Assume its drop links so will try and change this week. 2/Rear wiper does not switch on. Not sure if it works but colum stalk works wipers ok but does not twist (maybe seized). How hard is it to change stalk? 3/Its a HDI auto 2002 2.0, gearbox seems ok but whines a bit at low speed, anything worth checking/topping up. 4/Needs new battery! 5/Needs a service as done 85k with history but last service was 75k. Again will do later in the week. 6/Rear glass does not open (Estate). Looking at posts seems common issue and a hard fix Thanks

    2Nd C5

Purchased a 2002 C5 last week for my wife, both think its a great car. Today purchased a 2nd one (2002 LX 2.0 HDI auto) same a 1st one but green, 1st one was red.
  25. Hi Many thanks. Have to say really loving the C5, 40 plus mpg (and its a auto), great ride, and used the seats down estate yesterday, managed to transport a dressing table/2 chairs and a load of kitchen equipment all in one loud... Thinking of buying another C5 for the wife!
