Do I Require A New Flywheel Or Clutch Kit
ivorcitroen replied to MysteryDriver's topic in C5 - Technical
Hi, iv'e replaced 3 clutches and flywheels on c5's all been diesels all 2005 and all had a dmf fitted, when they go they make a lot of vibration and rattles on tickover however when you get them going you can't really tell it's got a bad flywheel(in my experience anyway) eventually however it gets to a point where you have difficulty engaging gears then it needs to be done. Instead of doing a search for a flywheel for your car i did a search for a clutch, out of 50 hits all the clutches had centre springs in them which usually means a solid flywheel is fitted, whereas with a dmf the springs are in the flywheel and not in the clutch. It could be the release bearing has callapsed,so probabley you won't know till it's stripped down. -
Hi,yeah also had this problem with 2.2 exclusive same year same warning on dash. It was obvious that the turbo wasn't working,so deleted anti pollution fault with lexia(no specific imformation indicating what caused the fault was in the programme) and all back to normal again sometimes for a week somtimes just a couple of hours. Eventually i sold it spares or repair, later i found out that you can only delete permanent faults 50 times max after that the lexia or delphi programme of which i have both won't take them off anymore. So it looks like the message here is if you have a permenant fault don't try and delete it without trying to fix it first.

I'm sure adblue is only around 70p a litre on the pump,i used to drive daf trucks a couple of years ago and the adblue would last 2-3 days but the tanks were 75 litre that was a euro 4. Also i've read that when the change came from euro 4 to euro 5 the adblue consumpsion was 50% greater,we are now on euro 6
-
As far as i know it can't be put in with the fuel it's introduced into the exhaust. The company i work for have just taken delivery of 4 m.a.n 44t trucks,i was supprised to see it was using a tank of adblue to a tank of diesel. adblue tank = 30 litres diesel tank = 350-400 litres approx.

Hi all, It's been a while since i last posted. Still had the same problems(all earths clean)even put car into auto electricians for diagnosis,it was in there all day and it never showed any faults at all so couldn't be tested. After that the faults eventually came back ie service light on battery or charging fault resulting in no door locking, no heater blower and ultumately no start. So bit the bullet and sent the bsi off to BBA Reman they accidentley wiped it so they sent me a virginised reconditioned one, booked it into local citroen dealer for software download(BBA are paying btw)dealer said there was no configuration details on it.(they say there are over 600 different configs.for this model alone). My son has exactly the same model so they took the config.off that,it came back windscreen wipers working all the time(won't turn off),it will lock but not remotely, suspension will not go up or down off the button and not showing outside temprature. I rang BBA Reman today they said send the unit back they will check/virginise it again or i can buy another unit from citroen(£356 inc vat). Ok went to local citroen garage again they would love to sell me one but it will be a virginised unit so may be back to square one, also saw a bsi+engine ecu keys barrel etc.on e bay for my model,so it's decision time. Any thoughts/past experience anyone

C5 Hdi Irratic Loss Of Power When Engine Hot.
ivorcitroen replied to John.A.S.'s topic in C5 - Technical
thanks to qman 3428 iv'e recently done the filter didn't make any difference. Bought a c5 in kent once and drove it to the north east,it ran ok until you overtook or went up a hill then used to splutter till you released the pedal a bit. got home next day took fuel filter out, never ever seen one so black. John.A.S you could always test the stat the old way (a pan of water on top of the gas) -
C5 Hdi Irratic Loss Of Power When Engine Hot.
ivorcitroen replied to John.A.S.'s topic in C5 - Technical
When i clicked on the favourites button to come on this website tonight instead of going to the homepage this came up. C5 2005 2.0L 136Hp Diesel Hesitation, Help Please!Which although is not exactly the same problem but simular I have the same engine and the same hesitation( but not temp related) also i know someone with a peugeot 307 same engine same hesitation although i don't think temp related. . the post above appeared on here in march 2013 i think. -
Re:door switch, tried lifting the door handle putting a screwdriver in the latch(Paul h)then moving it round to see if it makes curtesy light go out and it does. So it looks like if you want to do battery dis/reconnection and can't get your window down you could use this method.
-
Ps on the above post(it won't let me edit) there is what looks like a hands free phone ie microphone on windscreen speaker in footwell it was activated by accident once and someone from trafficmaster asked what the problem was. also there are reversing sensors which don't come as standard on an 05 vtr but these seem to work fine, but are of course connected to rear speakers, had this car about 6 months before this problem started these items were already fitted when bought.

First thanks to paul h i will test your suggestions. also thanks to coastline for reply, i did say in a previous post that i had removed and cleaned 6 earths in the engine bay i will do more when i get time. I must admit it is definitely worth doing, all the earths looked clean from the top but when taken off there was a dusty residue underneath and on one of them part of the insulation on the wire was trapped underneath, probably been like that since the car was made. At the moment what's happening is the same thing, service light comes on etc.so the doors won't lock when parking. But iv'e found if when stopped i turn the ignition off and then straight back on(so engine does not stop)the service light goes out and i can lock the doors,(not a cure but makes it usable). any further developments i will put in the original post.

Does anyone know how the door switch(curtesy light)operates? Can't see any switches like you would see on older cars,(ie compressed in the door jamb opening the switch),are they proximity switches? The reason why i'm asking this is when doing the battery dis/reconnect procedure and you can't get the driver's window down because of eco mode, won't start, there should be a way to fool the bsi into thinking the door is closed. If it is a proximity switch you could use a magnet to open the switch so when you reconnect the battery you could follow the prodcedure properly. Any thoughts anyone.
-
Thanks for all your replies, I have written in earlier post that i always follow the battery disconnect/reconnect procedure. Got another question to ask the forum but i'll open a new thread, don't want to go off subject too much.

I thank you for that paul.h Other things i have noticed when the car was completely dead before, with the many battery disconnections/connections i did,if you removed the shunt fuse in the bsi and put it in the parking slot(ie moved it to the left) when you turned on the ignition the windscreen wipers would operate once and the engine would crank but not start. Also connecting the battery (shunt fuse in normal position) sometimes the engine would crank but not start, although if you puased for about a minuite and listened you could hear the bsi click after this it would start.

Ok here's an update on this fault. Mostly behaving itself at the moment then without warning or operating anything comes up with "BATTERY OR CHARGING FAULT" then sevice light comes on as before,it will eventually go off but it has to stay off before switching off or it won't lock. Also other things that always happen is no rear screen wiper and no heater blower, although it does indicate the fan is working on the display screen.Everything else seems to work fine. Will try and find other earths to clean up. Later.

Had this trouble myself with a 2003 c5 exclusive got them turned off with a lexia. I'm sure there's a video on you tube that shows you how to replace the 10 year battery in them.

ok, went out to the car this morning pressed the remote to take the alarm off(no locking remember) heard the the door locks operate, put key in ignition, got dash lights and started straight up. Now most people may have been pleased by this, but when you've done nothing whatsoever to the car it's a sickener for me. So anyway took it into town switched it off (riskey) it started back up,on the way home heard a bong displayed BATTERY OR CHARGING FAULT got home, disconnected the battery(don't worry the proper way) and cleaned 6 earths in the engine bay reconnected(as per proceedure). now just waiting for further developments. watch this space

DId you get sorted?

Ok thanks,i'll check that later on today when i get up.

05 c5 vtr 138 hdi 105000 miles new dmf fitted 6mths ago hi all, This problem started about 6 weeks ago, driving along you would hear a bong, service light on and warning on dash indicating "CHARGING OR BATTERY FAULT" The car still drove ok.Got home central locking won,t work. This happened for a couple of weeks same routine.Have had lexia connected it reported "LOW VOLTAGE TO BS"I,(that could have been caused by the car standing a couple of days then messing about with it), the battery is about 8 months old has good voltage 12.6 or so and 14.4 charging. Other main thing that came up on the lexia was "CAN MUTE" Iv'e done lots of tests, drop voltage and such to cut a long story short what's happening now is no ignition lights no power on side or headlights, won,t turn over. thanks in advance.

teeside got lexia + planet (learn by my mistakes)
