  1. Yes they will come off with a sharp yank......but it hurts your fingers.......so taking one or 2 bolts out will make life easier. You should be able to fit alternative trims over the existing wheels.....thing to do is try some.
  2. Have a look here it might help.....then measure the holes to confirm it before searching the high street. Blaupunkt - select 'to the car configurator'
  3. Is it the HPI model?

    New Clutch

Have been, and do work for a dealer. There are always 2 sides to a problem, and whilst i spend a lot of time trying to find a way round problems for customers i also find there are some that you just cant help! Now before someone bites my head off i'm not suggesting thats the case here. Regarding loan vehicles: I know from the dealership i work for it isnt always possible to find a loan car instantly..........believe it or not one of the reasons we dont have cars is because a job has been completed and customer contacted but it would be of great inconvenience for them to return it within the next 24 hours!!!!.........So next time you have a car and the dealer is ringing you to come get your car, he's probably saying.........'if you could bring it straight back you would be doing me a big favour cos i've got a customer here that needs it urgently'. Whilst I try to treat others as i would like to be treated I dont always get it right. One of the best ways i have found with dealing with customers is to get to know them, and if they have a problem its an ideal time. In our workshop there are eight technicians......someone out there is going to know the answer to your problem......and if they dont then its time to learn. On the odd occasion, your vehicle might be given to the 'wrong' person to look at.......if you think of a hospital it would be like asking the chiropodist to perform brain surgery.....as you would imagine the patient ends up worse of than before and has many more visits to get it put right.........Seriously though, the problem is getting the technicians & receptionists realising there's a customer depending on them to do there job properly, they have a customer to keep informed, and inconvenience them as little as possible. I read the information here because in general there are things that follow trends.....the rear brake callipers for instance.....and it makes me aware of some of the irritations. There may be occasions where i throw my two peneth into a thread, ussually, because i know the answer. I dont always understand the glee with which some people list there faults and proclaim it must be costing citroen a fortune. There are many customers very satisfied with there vehicles, and i for one wouldnt have worked on the product for over 20 years if it wasnt the case, i dont need agravation at work. The Citroen product isnt any worse than other products out there, and you will always find plenty of people to write criticism with few finding time to praise. Maybe the site needs to expand its horizons a bit......stop slagging off your pride and joy and make it interesting.....its getting repetative

    New Clutch

Would you have prefered to wait for a courtesy car to be available? or would you want to wait for it to leave you stranded? Maybe you would have prefered to have complained that they have told you you needed a clutch, but couldnt look at it for 5 days? So i suppose what your saying is "well done my local dealer for looking at my clutch and getting it sorted straight away under warranty, Its a pity they havent got a loan car but at least it wont leave me stranded with a burnt out clutch" Or maybe you should walk into your Citroen dealer now the've got your car in bits and tell them you hate them!!!
  8. This isnt directed at any person here and isnt set out to alienate anyone. Something thats also worth noting is the amount of information the customer gives the service department when dropping it off. In my experience....and i have plenty........if we cant replicate a fault, we try to road test with the customer to get it demonstrated. You would be suprised at the number of customers who go out with me and say its not doing it today......not to mention those that never have the time!! Whilst your vehicle may have a warranty on it, if the fault doesnt present itself within half hour its unlikely that anyone is going to spend any longer on it without demonstration of the fault.......after all we dont get paid for roadtesting/checking where no fault is found......if your problem takes hours of driving or certain conditions to occur we need to know that.......citroen dont provide dealers with crystal balls.....and if we were mind readers we would be sitting at blackpool funfair in a tent. If your not happy about something got to the dealer and explain the problem, take note of the fault if possible. See if you can arrange to roadtest the vehicle with someone to demonstrate the fault before you take it in to them. Get them to agree with your list of faults so you are confident they will be looked at Ask how long they will need the car for....1 day, overnight, a week? If you need a courtesy vehicle see when it will be available and make a booking. Be reasonable with your expectations, if its rattles and squeaks you probably can wait 10 days to get it booked in and sorted out. If its a running fault maybe you need more urgent attention. I regularly have a vehicle in for upto a week sorting faults. It doeant mean i'm working on it 8 hours a day, it might get looked at an hour a day.....most of the time will be taken with replicating the fault, diagnosing the fault and ordering parts.....a small amount of time fixing it. Your own dealer probably has its own way of dealing with things........ask them, maybe you will get your faults fixed and be able to learn to trust your dealer. More to the point.........if you've got a complaint, go to them and complain, they wont know otherwise.

    Digital Dash

I assume from what your saying that the car is now running and radio/central locking functioning correctly. If thats the case it may just have encountered a software problem that rebooting the computor (disconnecting the battery) may well have resolved. If fault still exists it may well be more serious and could originate from either the main computor, the radio or the dash as there all interconnected. Just a suggestion.......you havent got kids that have shoved coins in the CD player?......might be worth removing and giving it a shake!
  10. I believe its a second aerial for the radio......some of the units have dual tuners.
  11. What model/petrol/diesel?......is the exhaust manifold? or the downpipe?
  12. So buy them a dvd player and sit them with the dvd out of view of the driver.
  13. Economy mode is activated if the ignition is left on for a long period without the alternator providing a charge. In the good old days you could have left your radio on and subsequently had a flat battery when you finished your cleaning job. To reduce the chance of this citroen have built a timer into the main computer to 'manage the customers wishes'. IE. you want to listen to the radio.....thats fine, but i'll turn it off after half hour....if you want to carry on listening start me up so i can charge the battery......if you dont leave me to charge for long enough i will turn off annywhere between 2 and 30 minutes. You can get the economy mode time lengthened, but i would advise you against it......have you ever tried bumpstarting a C8?
  14. Trafficmaster Have a look there for costs. You might want to turn the volume down on the unit to stop it annoying you, if you want to disable it totally you will find the control unit situated above the glovebox.
  15. yes i do.....and its illegal
  16. Sounds like your technician needs to read the letter the customers have been sent
  17. From my experience, which is pretty good, i can say that warranty covers manufacturing defects.....So: If lowering your suspension causes your gearbox differential to fail, power steering pipes to wear through due to lack of clearance, brake pipes to rub on wheel weights, wheels to foul on bodywork and damage inner wing liners, exhaust failure due to fouling on speed humps, rattles and squeaks caused by the workmanship of the modifications carried out, excessive tyre wear/steering pull......no its not covered. In addition modification of wheels can cause components like Speedos to read incorrectly, abs/esp to function incorrectly and engine management computors to deliver incorrect information to the injectors/coil Low profile tyres may also cause exessive strain on wheel bearings and suspension bushes due to lack of side wall flexibility. As a point of interest i recently had a saxo in for rear light electrical problems......the cause was oversize wheels and no inner wheel arches, the boot was soaking wet and the light units ruined due to corrosion down the wiring
  18. yes, its called a hammer, and you break it.......the lock unit is sealed, you need to smash it off
  19. Unfortunately you may find you have to remove the interior door trim and then break the door catch from inside the door. Sometimes a 'firm bang' on the door around the lock area will allow it to open......but dont dent the door
  20. Its got to be cheaper to go through your glass specialist and just pay the excess......just make sure they replace/refit the door skin membrane correctly or you will have water leaks
  21. Is this the same problem that plagued Xantia brakes? Yes it is, but not as easy to get the calipers off and resolve
  22. kfk

    Suspension.

the C5 does have spheres, but not the same type as xantia due to the vehicle running with LDS Fluid (orange) and NOT LHM (green). I'm not aware of anyone offering to regass these yet. However, regassing shouldnt be considered as a reliable repair. When regassing the spheres the question has to be asked where did the gas go?......invariably its through the membrane and into the hydraulic circuit. You cant check the condition of the membrane, which has already done over 100k, so why throw money away on a regas. Get the spheres pressure checked at you dealer and also the computor codes checked, incase it has an electrical fault.
  23. probably caused by corrosion build up between the rear brake caliper and the rear suspension arm. Best to do both sides, not a job to be done without power tools as the bolts are secured down there length by locktight.
  24. Is it the seat base sliding or the back rest pivoting? I have had people complain about the backrest pivoting.....seemed to be dependent on the rake of the backrest combined with movement of occupant. There isnt any adjustment to be made in either the pivot or seat slider mechanism. to prove if its the rake try reclining the seat slightly and see if movement still occurs.
  25. And then you get the situtation where people decide to upgrade there wheels 'because they look nice' and dont have a clue how much pressure is needed in there new low profile rubbers. The extra stiffness caused by low profiles and high tyre pressures causes the car to vibrate itself apart.....something we then blame on Citroen build quality! It never ceases to amaze me how much people will spend on wheels and tyres, how hard they think they drive their car, and how little they know about the tyre in contact with the road and keeping them from harm.
