Driving home from work last night and Orange Engine Management Light came on and lost power . It feels as though the Turbo isnt working . It got me home with Engine running fine and still does 65 - 70 mph but takes ages to get there ! Turned it off when i got home and restarted hoping the Orange Light would go out , but it didnt and will only let me rev to just over 2500 RPM , but still runs OK . Any ideas ? Thanks in advance Rob

Just had the car serviced and they also replaced the Heater Blower Resistor with the new one I got from EBAY. Hasn't cured it and still only works on High Speed ! Any ideas please . Whole new unit as John did or could it be the Switch ? -
Can someone please tell me the Part Number for the Heater Blower Resistor. It only works on High Speed when it wants , and my car has Air Conditioning Thanks in advance Rob

I folded a small piece of paper up a few times , pushed it into the gap , folded it over the outside and taped it so it stays there and it cured it . Must be a dodgy connection in the end bit that turns the lights on and off . It has taken the small amount of movement away but still able to twist it to turn lights on / off !

Just been quoted £60 + from ANdrew Page so a bit cheaper than I thought . Been having a look in the car and everything seems to work OK if l push or pull the little end section with the slightest amount of pressure . Would a spray with WD40 around this area maybe cure it ?

Yet another electrical problem !! I turn the Side lights on and they come on dash lights come on but no side light on warning light comes on . Turn the switch another click and the Low Beam comes on and the Green light on Dash comes on .This nthen starts flashing but the Low Beam light stay on OK . A flick forward of the stalk or movement up and down sometimes makes the Low Beam Light On stop flashing and stay on . If I then go for the High Beam , lights on car come on as they should , Blue and Green Dash lights come on and after a couple of seconds the Blue Dash light goes out along with the Cars High Beam leaving just the Low Beam on and The Green Dash light . I can occasion keep everything on as it should be by moving the Stalk that the light switch is on up abd down or push it forward HELPPPPP !!!

Is it an easy fix Paul ? -
The water problem only started after I had the crash , so may be something to do with Header tank , but looks like water is coming out near bottom pulley ?

Thought I'd put this up before I scrap my trusty old car in a couple of weeks incase it's any use to anyone . Just waiting on the logbook to be returned to transfer my Number Plate on to my recently purchased Xsara . The car had been my work horse for about seven years . It's disgusting inside , the clutch slips very slightly, it's got a nasty dent in the F/O/S Wing , and I think the water pump may have gone , although I have still been driving it about twelve miles a day , to and from work , topping up the water each time . Engine wise it is still great having done 165000 miles . The Heater Plugs were replaced last Winter ,the Camel was changed at 142000 miles, and it has had Oil and Oil Filter change every 10000 miles since I bought the car with 90000 miles on. Youll have to take my word for all the servicing as i have no records as never planned to sell it !It's MOTd until Sept and taxed until the end of July . It can be driven away but I will be taking the Battery off to put on the new one ! The Scrap Yards are offering just short of £100 , so if anyone's interested before she goes......

Thanks Paul I think nearly all the old coolant was pumped out when the AA man told me it didn't need a paper gasket where the plastic faces come together on the thermostat housing !

How many litres of Antifreeze should I be putting in my Xsara 2.0 Hdi 2002 ?

Must be something to do with the wires to the door . Gave them a wobble and it's working again . -

Cheers Paul , I'll have a look tomorrow . Quite happy with the MPG though . Drove down from Peterborough ( 120 miles ) doing about 75 to 80 all the way and then down to Chichester and back on windy roads and it did 51 MPG ! -

Well , it completed its first 100 Mile return with only one fault , well two as I already knew I need to get the Heater blower repaired as it only works when it wants on high speed . Drivers side electric window was a bit temperamental since I bought the car last week . It went down as it should do , but would only come up a bit at a time even with the up button pressed on all the time , so I've been pushing the up button on and off until it gets to the top and is shut. This morning it worked perfectly up and down so I was happy that it sorted itself out . Now it doesn't work at all up or down !!!! Any ideas ? -

Think this could have been a bad buy !! Engine is now running OK and been on a 10 mile drive . Everything OK until I got home and noticed air bubbles and water coming out of the plastic thermostat housing . Just replaced the thermostat but hasn't cured the problem . Head Gasket ? If so is it worth repairing and roughly what would the cost be . it's a shame as everything else seems OK now ! -

Just got home from working away from home for a week and car is now running and driving fine again . The mechanic changed the fuel filter and said it was very dirty but there was no metal in it . Filter housing was cleaned and a little hammer is now on board ! Thanks for the replies Paul. -

Had my mechanics look at it today Paul and there was diesel pressure . Diagnostics didn't show any codes and they gave the High Pressure Pump a little tap with a hammer and it started and has run OK until they left . There going back tomorrow to fit new Fuel Filter incase it sucked some crap through . What's your thoughts ? -

I'm working away from home until tomorrow so will have a listen then. Do you know if parts are the same as my old 1.9 Diesel non turbo Xsara (2000) that still runs perfectly so I may be able to swap parts
