  1. Hi Sorry if this has been answered before. I am new to this forum and am looking at purchasing a C3 Auto Diesel 1.4 e-HDI VTR+ EGS 2012 model My main reason for this is for the fuel economy nothing else seems to compare to the MPG published. Having said that i don't trust the published MPG stats which are Urban mpg78.5 mpgExtra Urban mpg88.3 mpgAverage mpg83.1 mpg I do 50 miles a day 5 days a week so 250 a week ! a mix of motorway, dual carriageway at 70 mph and urban. on a roundtrip probably 30 miles is high speed (70 to 75 mph) and 20 miles is urban with some stop and start. My question to other C3 auto diesel drivers is what MPG could i reasonably expect ? I'd be happy with 65+ is this achievable ? Any other things i need to be wary of this model ? I've never owned a diesel or a citroen before ! Thanks for any help
  2. Hello everyone. I have just bought a C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive Automatic 6 speed, 2005 (NV55 LHK). It has done 135,000 miles and has patchy non main dealer service history. I have read lots of posts on the forum but none seem to mention my problem. The Problem:- When changing up from 1st to 2nd gear, the gear box seems to slip and then jolts into gear violently, it feels like a kick in the back. It only happens when the car is warmed up, when the car is started from cold there is no problem the gear change is smooth. There are no gearbox warning lights or messages. I bought the automatic as my wife has Arthritis and now struggles to change gears with her left hand. She loves the car it is very comfortable for her to drive. Any advice and guidance would be most welcome.
  3. I have a 2006 Citroen C5 diesel automatic that has done 75,000 miles, which has an AISIN AM6 automatic gearbox. The gears go into neutral between all upward gear changes. If the throttle is backed off, then it will change gear ok, or if the car is driven very gently, then it will avoid the problem. The more power being put through the gearbox then the worse the problem gets. I have been told by 2 independent automatic gearbox specialists that this is a common problem with this gearbox and the valve body will need replacing, at a cost of around £1,500. (This gearbox seems to be fitted to several makes of car, not just Citroen). The local Citroen garage investigated the problem for 2 hours, but could not find the fault and suggested a transmission fluid change, but they weren’t too hopeful that this would fix the problem. I have looked at a web site for a company called Sonnax who are gearbox specialist in the USA and they strongly recommend using a scan tool or pressure gauge for valve body diagnosis. This is a link to their article http://www.sonnax.com/articles/137-AW-6-Speeds-Valve-Body-Diagnosis The closest Citroen garage I can find with scan equipment is in Coventry, (I live in Ipswich). So my questions are…. 1) Has anyone else had this problem or am I just unlucky? (I have found some problems on the internet for Citroen C6's). 2) Does anyone know of a garage that can do diagnostics while the car is being driven, (i.e. has a scan tool), that is closer to Ipswich than Coventry? Thanks,
  4. My October 2013 Exclusive 2.0HDi Auto Tourer has been a pleasure to drive, however two things, both transmission related, have caught my attention: 1. The auto transmission has been programmed for economy, so it likes to keep the revs so low, that the car vibrates. 2. When I press the accelerator to the floor (more pronounced in low gears) and then lift my foot after realising I don't need that much power, the engine senselessly revs to 4500 rpm before changing gear. Pressing the pedal to the floor is a habit from my previous 2004 2.2HDi Auto SX Wagon. I will soon learn not to do it, but still a modern auto transmission should not react that way. Has anyone else encountered such a situation? Any remedies? Kind regards, Mike O.
