Guest bobby t Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Hi i need some help please, i have just purchased a citroen berlingo 1.4 forte 2001 y reg and the temperature gauge is bouncing all over the place and when it finally settles it is very near the red part and when you stop the engine it sits about a quarter of the way up,no problems with over heating or stop lights coming on but it just keeps bouncing around. any suggestions? rob Quote
paul.h Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 If it is the same 1.4 petrol as in the C3, the temperature sensor is at the right hand (as you look at it) of the cylinder head. Have a look and see if the connector or its wiring are loose or the contacts are dirty. If not, the sensor may be faulty, about £25 for a new one. Could also be a faulty thermostat, a coolant leak (check the level is ok), an air lock in the coolant, faulty water pump, at worst a failing head gasket. Quote
