Guest glosterboy Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Hello, When I activate my direction indication to turn right only, my main lights also turn on. Any ideas please? I have a C3 Desire. Quote
paul.h Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Could be a fault with the comms unit which is the combined indicator/light stalk, wipers stalk and the unit below the steering wheel. They come as one part, cost over £100. Probably best to get your dealer to confirm. Quote
Guest Dididocky Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I also have this exact problem with my 2007 c3 desire. although mine seems to do it mainly on left indication. strange thing is this only happened since the car was recalled last year for a re-write to the ecu to cure a problem with headlights going off or something like that. this car never had a problem with headlights at all until directly after that re-write. we took it straight back to the dealer the same day. they just told me it was my switch and i need a new one, still haven't done it due to the cost of the switch and i dont believe that it is faulty, i am not impressed with that dealer they just don't seem to care. would be interested to know how many others are having this problem or something similar. i can put up with it as it is for now as it is not an mot failure item and the lights go off if i turn them on then off or just switch off the igniton as the switch is still in the off position. just must be more annoying for people coming the other way when i put the indicator on and they get my headlights on them too Quote

Looking back to March 2010 I had my C3 serviced and at the same time I had the "re-write" completed. I can't remember the exact date when the indicator and headlights issue started? But, it was soon after. I also would be interested if other C3 owners have/are experiencing this irritating problem? Is it a problem created by the "re-write"? Quote
Guest citrowner Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi.I have a 57 C3 cool.I have a similar problem. When I put left indicator on I get faulty sidelamp warning, or brake light failure warning. Also it seems to be random. Some times when switching on ignition, it say's faulty sidelamp. I have checked all bulbs & all working ok. Inclined to ignore it hoping it will go away but, will it eventually get worse & shut the electrics off completely. Who knows? Electronics, how did we manage in the old days !! Quote

Seems I'm not the only one who has had problems since the ECU upgrade. My problem is if I turn the stalk off quickly the lights stay on (ok if I turn them off very slowly). Indicating to turn left sometimes sets the horn or the rear wash wipe off and I've had the faulty sidelamp warning which disappears after about 3 miles driving. I've noticed electrics stay on even when ignition key is removed. I wonder if we could all gang together and put a complaint in for yet another ECU upgrade but with a software engineer who can finally iron out all the bugs once and for all!!!!!! Quote
Guest citrowner Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Hi.I found this, haven't tried it yet but, I will try changing the side lamp bulbs to see what happens. Will let you know the result. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2707137 Quote
