Guest elwaster Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hi, I've noticed that my reverse lights seem to be permanently on right now, no matter what gear I am in, does anyone know how I might solve this problem or if you've experienced this before? As it's illegal to have them on here when driving, and the random beeping from the parking indicator is annoying. Thanks! Quote
paul.h Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Could be your reverse light switch mounted on top of the gearbox is stuck in the reverse (on) position. Removal and cleaning may fix it or replacement with a new one. If you remove its wiring connector and the lights then go out you will know the switch is at fault. Quote
Guest elwaster Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Thank you for the reply, I'm hopeless with cars, so I have spoken to a garage, and they say on the phone the interrupter is likely broken or faulty. Interrupter being my spanish to english translation of what he meant. So it'll most likely be exactly as you've stated. I will be seeing them this evening regarding it and will update with the final outcome. Quote
Guest elwaster Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 So a trip to the garage was a total failure... I went in with the reverse lights appearing to work correctly, but now my Brake lights aren't working. Chances are they weren't working before either, so now I have to take the car back tomorrow and get it checked out. Suspicions are an electrical problem or a problem with the actual brake, because the bulbs work, but pressing the brake doesn't light them up. Any ideas, or previous experiences of this would be greatly appreciated. Quote
paul.h Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Possibilities now could include a problem with the brake light switch at the pedal, a bad earth point at the back of the car for the rear lights, corrosion in the bulb holders, loose wiring connectors at the rear lights, a wrong type of bulb fitted.
