Guest jarmiller Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hazard relay loose in socket or completely Donald Ducked? It's a 1987 2CV Special. So by the relay do you mean the wire connector block that goes in to the back of the hazard switch? Thanks Quote
kfk Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Last 2CV i saw didnt have a tell tale for the indicators......and didnt need it because the indicator unit creates enough noise to pass the MOT because it can be heard audibly......are you sure it has one? if it hasnt this link might help: http://www.2cvtv.com...rlamp/index.htm a generic diagram can be found here http://www.agua.nu/d...g%20dim-dip.pdf looking at it i would suggest if the hazzard switch has failed the indicators wont work. Think first check would be that the hazzard switch has a 12v feed to it with the ignition off and when pressed gives a 12v output on one of the other pins. Quote

It definitely has the indicator tell tale and it used to work. The indicators work but the unit makes no noise so I definintely need the tell tale too. I did replace the unit a while back to repair a fault in the indicators. Thanks for the links and I will check the hazard switch output. It seems like it would be amazingly bad luck to have two faulty hazard switches as I have just bought another one and tried it. Quote
Guest jarmiller Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Well thanks everyone for the advice. Its been in the mechanics now and they came to they found the indicator relay overheated and replaced it and now it all works so hopefully the MOT is coming soon. It was a weird one because the indicators were working but apparently the relay stopped working completely when it was with them.Oh and also whilst with them the main light switch stopped working so I am now replacing that too.I had replaced the relay last year and am a bit confused as to why I was supplied one that wasn't up to the job.
