Marshy Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I have a 2002 C5 2ltr HPI Exclusive SE which I have had from new. Although the engine was noisy from new I was told that there's no problem, it seems to now be more noisy and when cold it ticks over like a diesel. As far as I can tell the noise seems to come from the the engine and sounds as if the tappets need ajusting but these I believe are hyd type.Has anyone had this problem and did you get it fixed?regardsMarshy Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Sorry - a quick read of your post lead me to believe you had an HDI - so I've deleted. Quote

It requires oil pressure to control it, however inside it it has a couple of seals that can leak and allow it to rattle and make it sound like a diesel. Rather than start taking it apart you might want to drop by your local dealer and let them have a listen......if it is this component that has failed they will recognise the sound and advise you accordingly Quote
