busman Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I recently acquired a Citroen C5 estate on an 02 plate from my step father. It has loads of history.Recently, my step father encountered the "service" light continually on even though he had the car serviced a few weeks earlier. He also had "Air bag faulty" permanently on.Therefore he took the car to the usual garage. It was put on the diagnostic machine and showed no faults. He was told by the mechanic that the computer starts playing up after 10 years or so and that the lights it lights up are nothing to be worried about.I have just had the "Engine anti pollution fault" message come up on the dashboard computer and also the engine management light is lit up in amber. Is this another computer blip to be ignored or does it mean something more serious like a filter needs cleaning, or a sensor needs resetting? Any help and how i can do it myself rather than take it to a garage will be helpful. And can I reset the airbag fault and the service fault?? Quote
paul.h Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Post this on the C5 subforum with info on model, engine size, diesel/petrol and mileage and you should get a good response. The service light could be something such as the front brake pads worn, low battery voltage (but then unlikely to start). Air bag faulty could be a loose connection under a seat - has one been moved recently, such as by a new driver/passenger ? The anti pollution fault could be all sorts of things depending on which engine you have - a search on the C5 sub forum will give a lot of info on this. Was the usual garage a Citroen dealer since I would have thought their diagnostic equipment would have read/cleared any fault codes ? I have not seen any posts that suggest the computer plays up at 10 years old, possibly being fobbed off here. Quote
