Maddersc5 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Hi can anyone tell me if a 04 plate C5 diesel has a cable operated clutch or a hydraulic one , as my other half has brokendown and i am at work ( RAC ) on way . I was told the clutch pedal is stuck in the down position and there was a burning smell. Everyhing else was fine with the car its just that something has let go out of the blue is there a hydraulic cylinder for this type of clutch. Is this a common problem ?? Many thanks for any info its just i am trying to figure out what to do next when i get back home. Quote

Maddersc5 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 its hydraulic and it sounds like your thrust bearing has colapsed Thanks is this a big job ? How much typically would a garage charge for this job ?? Quote
Johndouglas Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 It's a gearbox out job and it would be shortsighted not to consider renewing the entire clutch at the same time. Quote
