BigT Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Hi all, new to the site so big hello from N Ireland. I have two face-lift C5's 1.6 HDI, both with 60k approx. One with no probs, the other with a few niggles. Any advise would be appreciated.1) Cooling fan runs on even though temp sensor shows normal when car switched off. Wouldn't be a prob but it stayed on high speed so long it ran the battery flat, in excess of 10 mins running and battery good. 2)Last week external temp sensor showing 2 dashes which at same time caused my elect window & mirror cluster on drivers door only to stop working. All the other door switches work fine. I know the 2 are linked as on one occasion the outside temp was reading OK and the window cluster worked Strange!!! only once though and temp hasn't read since. 3) Occasionally the auto lights don't turn off on their own??. Great cars otherwise sooooo comfortable, would love to get these fixed without spending a bundle. Thanks in anticipation. Quote
paul.h Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Welcome to the forum. I vaguely remember on this site a post about the fan not stopping but can not remember what it was but it will be somewhere on this site, so a search may show something. May not have been a C5 or on the C5 subsection so check all the site. Failure of the outside temp sensor in the door mirror (small lump on the bottom needing mirror removal to get at it) seems common and is sorted by replacing it. However, since other things are also not working then maybe there is a problem with the wiring where it enters the door or a common earth point - might be one near the right driver's foot but not sure. Auto lights - is the windscreen at the top where the light sensor is located clean ? Quote
