Hi, I'm David and I'm writing from Wales, I acquired my first C1 VTR+ hatchback last Friday it has done less than 4000 miles , I used to drive a Berlingo Van so it's quite a change! It's a 2010 reg. and my first automatic transmission car so I'm finding it a very different drive indeed by comparison. I'm a bit flummoxed by the gear changes at the moment. There seems to be a delay when the C1 is about to change gear, especially between 4th and 5th gear. If it passes through 40 mph to 50 mph in 4th it will not go into 5th gear! I haven't got an owners handbook, the garage where I got the car is getting me one. I don't know anything about the car so I'm assuming it is my driving style-mainly slow! It hates hills and, living in S. Wales, they are difficult to avoid! I look forward to dropping in on the C1 forum a lot in the future.

Regards to all,

David

You can read and print pages from the owners handbook on the service.citroen.com website. A click on your mouse right button right is easiest way to start printing.

Hi David,

I was given a new C1 VTR+ as a courtesy car whilst my C3 was in for a service. I had previously owned a C3 Sensodrive (computer controlled clutch 2 pedal car) which I found excellent. The C1 VTR+ had the EGS gearbox which differed from the Sensodrive version in that it 'crept' if it was in E (auto)position with my foot off the brake which the Sensodrive didn't do. I noticed exactly the same characteristics as you have in that it was reluctant to change from 4th into 5th and it didn't like hills. I didn't discuss the C1 with the staff when I returned the car but I assumed that the 1 litre engine was lacking torque when asked to maintain speed uphill - it was OK if I put my foot down but this made the gearbox change down a gear!!

Otherwise I was impressed with the C1'sperformance when accelerating up to cruising speed and the economy seemed excellent during the time I had the car (160miles).

Regards

Mark
