somewhere in the C5 forum (I think) is a load of info concerning the reset of the windows after battery replacement (which I now think started my problem). I can't find it!

Is this the method your talking about. It's a copy and paste from last year.

There are several past topics on the forum where it's printed, but here it is again:-

CORRECT REBOOT PROCEDURE FOR BSI

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

Remove key open & close door test central locking system.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Reset the clock and date.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

No - actually it was from people who'd tried raising and lowering windows up to 10 times to try to get them to operate correctly.

However, I've found another "fix" on this site which involves removing fuses from the glove compartment (fuse 4 for passenger door, fuse 5 for driver's) so I'm going to try that.

Gosh!! it seems to work. On my 2005 (facelift) C5 VTR 1.6HDi I removed fuse 5 (Does both front doors) waited a few secs and plugged it back in and, lo and behold, after doing the anti-pinch routine, I can control ALL windows from the driver's switches!

Advice - read the owners manual to find which fuses are for which door.

I am pleased this has worked and you did not buy another switch. I have now included a link to this topic in the Common Problems pinned post where Bobster's fix for the window anti pinch is mentioned.

Thanks Paul. If at first you don't succeed.........!
