Dircon Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Hello,Update to my sat / Nav problems. i.e. Sat / Nav works fine but, will not save any Destination for future use. It says Destinations have been saved however, after an Ignition switch off and on, my added destinations have been forgotten.I have purchased and fitted a secondhand Sat / Nav ECU, via ebay. However, it appeared to be DOA. Therefore, I have refitted my original unit.I have been told that my Sat / Nav ECU is probably not getting its Constant 12v connection. However, I cannot find any Pinout.Does anyone out there have the Pinout for my Sat / Nav ECU?Its Part Number Is : 22SY541/35If I can get this info', I will be able to test if my Unit is being supplied with a Constant 12v supply. If it is, then my Unit is faulty. However, if, as I suspect, my Sat / Nav ECU is not being supplied with a constant 12v supply, then I can just provide it with a new lead.Any help, much appreciated.Paul Quote
paul.h Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Just a comment on this problem. When I have disconnected the battery on our 2007 VTX C5 car, the sat nav/radio only loses the date/time. I have not yet tried to save any destinations but previously used ones are still there. So having a constant 12v supply may not be your problem. I do not know if the radio has an internal battery that keeps data saved, decades ago I had a removable one (for security reasons) and when the internal battery went flat it had to be reprogrammed when put back in the car. A secondhand unit may need to be programmed to your car before it would work, requiring a dealer or somebody with a lexia. Quote
Dircon Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks for your input Paul.h However, I have spoken to VDO re' my problem and they inform me that there are two possible causes: 1) (By far the least likely in my case), is that my ECU is faulty. 2) (By far the most likely in my case), is that my ECU is not connected to its constant 12v supply. They explained that, the Sat/Nav ECU only saves any new data, e.g. new Destinations, after the Ignition is switched off. It does this by using the Constant 12v supply. This takes up to one minute. Once new data has been saved, it will then remain in memory even if the car's battery is disconnected. He concluded that my Sat/Nav was behaving exactly as expected, if it had lost its Constant 12v supply. So, if I can find the ECU's Pin-Out I can check if this is the case, and re-establish the constant 12v if it is indeed disconnected. Thanks, Paul Quote
