tommieboy Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hi all first time poster here so please bear with me. I have a c3 1.6 petrol auto on an 08 plate and thats about as much as i know about cars, so i had to change the battey which seem simple but since then the car will not even turn over. The battery was brand new so nothing wrong with that i have also noticed a few odd things inside the car now so on trying to start the car there is nothing no chuck as if the stater is stuck however you do have a reply click inside the car and my mate crossed the wires on the starter and it spun so seems no problem with that. Also i noticed the display shows fuel too low and the gauge shows no bars when i know there is at least half a tank and the eco mode keeps coming on plus the aircon display lights light orange but not wording and does not work. I asked at CITROEN and was quoted silly money just to look at the car so really need help many thanks Quote
Fuzzybrush Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 This happened to my wifes C3 two months ago and it turned out to be the gear selector £750. It could not select neutral so it wouldn't turn over and the gauges read empty / cold. A known problem with this type of auto. Quote
paul.h Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 If everything was ok before the battery was swapped I would check the voltage of the new one in case it needs a charge - should be 12.5 to 12.7 volts - a low voltage may be enough to spin the starter bypassing the solenoid but not if it is engaged and trying to turn the engine. Also try a battery disconnection - switch off ignition, remove key, open bonnet and wait a few minutes for the bsi to shutdown. Disconnect battery, wait a few minutes, reconnect battery (do not get it connected wrong way round, from memory the positive cable may be black and confusing), wait a few minutes, put key in ignition, wait a few minutes, turn key to first position, wait a few minutes, turn key so ignition lights up, again wait a few minutes then try to start the engine. A bit long winded but helps to avoid problems with the bsi. The clock/date will need to be reset, possibly the radio stations and the windows switched down and back up - info is in the handbook. tommieboy Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 I was thinking about the gear selector but it does select the gears and it changes on the display IE P.D.N did your wifes do that as well ? Quote
