Johndouglas Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I thought it would good idea to give people a chance to name the good dealerships. Can't help you with this since I haven't come across one. I've been driving Citroens since 1990 and so far I've been able to look after them myself. My C5 (which is under warranty) is currently without its radio. So far the local dealer has had it for four weeks. I'm not impressed!!!!!!!!! Quote
kfk Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Must admit, the problem faced by C5 II owners when they get a radio fault is pretty ridiculous. Warranty dictate we have to return the set to the UK agent and they send one by return.......If that was to happen we'd have satisfied customers. Can i assume it either wont turn on or off? Anyhow good dealerships.......i think i work for one thats not bad......lets see how long before it gets listed (i wont advertise). Quote
Stuey Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I use Bristol Street in Nottingham. They are very helpful but the service blokes are always rushed off their feet so cant really give you a lot of time.. Quote
trypodz Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Barclays Motors (Warrington) Ltd......... Only been dealing with them for abour 7 weeks and not everything has gone smoothly but as long as you give them a little time they seem to get it right in the end... Besides one of the Owners/Directors who happened to be on site when I purchased my car gave me a deal that made me very happy...thanks again guys. I think we can all be a little impatient when it comes to car troubles Quote
bigrob Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Citroen Birmingham is OK. Service is good, but a bit crap at providing courtesy cars (vital for me, as I need it for my job) - they always seem to be double booked and want to charge for it, even for recalls! Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Can i assume it either wont turn on or off? Right! Quote
citroeneddie Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Chevron Motors Worcester. Always good service and friendly staff. Been going there for about three years following my switch from Peugeot to Citroen and never let me down. Family run garage, say no more  Quote
Mat Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Chevron Worcester for me too! So far I'm very happy with the service i get. Can think of many good things, and not many bad things. Personal service. It makes you feel well looked after when as you walk in, the sales guy remembers you and says 'Hello Mr ####', and at the service desk they recognise you too. Although when i went in for my steering block recall i got a teeny C1 1.0 with no aircon on one of the days in the July heatwave. That was a warm drive back from work to collect my C4!! Quote
wozza Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Use the Citroen manchester as i used to live 10 minute walk away. But they are usually good i have to say but occasionally they dont do things i ask or i get an answer im not too pleased about but ah well. There usually pretty good though. Quote
lee_marshuk Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Spot of Chasetown in Cannock - superb garage couldn't fault them Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 My father bought my C4 in Manchester, even tough we live in sussex! It was the only one in the country that met our request! Stopped there on the way to a business meeting to buy it, then stopped on the way back to collect it, and drove it all the way down here! Am i Lucky to have him?? YES! We use the Citroen in Tunbridge Wells for most things. They are very good there. Used to use the one in Crawley but they were not great, they know how to plug in a MP3 player, tunbridge wells dont! Have to get the insurance company to sort out the car before crawley can put the MP3 player in, because i crashed the car two days ago! :( I am not going to lie, It WAS my fault, I was the only one involved, and the only person in the car. Came up a hill, there was a large dip in the road, the car was still "on the up", therefore no wheels had any traction, back end came out one way, then the other, went into a tree/bush, tipped over on the passenger side, all the passenger side airbags went off. Ended up on the wrong side of the road, facing the other way! :( Came out completly unscaved! The police said that this road was EXTREMELY dangerous! I drive it everyday, i have heard that is the way it goes! I feel terrible! :( Car has substantial damage on the passenger side (perfect on the drivers side!!), Insurance will go sky high! They might even right the car off! Anyone here had an accident? P.S I know what everyone is going to think: "Boy Racer" or "***oops*** Driver" :( , well you would be wrong! I know that it was down to two things: 1. A dangerous road 2. Inexperience Thats it! Quote
wozza Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Sucks, Sorry to hear that mate. Anyway its only a car as long as your alright doesnt matter it can be replaced an insurance will go down again in future. These things happen. When i was in my friends car back end went out first thing he did was touch the brakes resulting in us crashing. had he not touched the brakes we would have been fine. Rather hard though to go against your instinct which usually is to brake though. Just one of those thigns you learn. But either way it can all be replaced and depending on the damage you would be surprsied what they put back on the roads although theres the possibility it just wont ever drive the same as it used to. Quote
lab44 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Sorry to hear about that mate. I reckon your probably spot on though - bad road and inexperience. At least no-one was hurt and you can learn from it and hopefully it will make you a better driver in future. I've had my fair share of minor (fortunately) prangs, not always entirely my fault but could have been avoided by myself with a bit more experience. One of the reasons though I got myself an old car to start with (and due to lack of money lol). Glad your OK though and no-one else was involved. Marc Quote
Safety Engineer Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I used to use Peter Sewells out near Great Dunmow till it chnged hands, absoluteky spot on service. My father used to use Helix in Chelmsford, he hated them due to a variety of problems, so was a little cautious when I started using them for the C4 and have found them to be quite helpful so far. Anyone know if they have changed hands or new managment ?? Quote
C4VTS Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 i crashed the car two days ago! :( Came out completly unscaved! Glad to hear you are ok. :( At least we know all the safety features work as they should  Quote
lab44 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Thats a point - one of the safest cars to crash in lol. I drove a Kia Pride for a while - i wouldnt even want to imagine what would have happened if that had happened in that! Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 At least we know all the safety features work as they should Yep! I am so thankfull that it happened in a C4. Dont want to think about want could of happened if i was in a different car! Keep getting upset about the car forgetting how lucky i was! It seems really gay, but for my birthday (or for passing my test) one of my really good mates gave me a twenty pound note with "lucky" written on it. I was laughing about it saying that i could not spend it (myself being superstitious)! I put it in my wallet and my wallet is always in my car. Now i am so thankfull that he gave it to me! Police told me i was very lucky! From what they see everyday i can take that comment as truth! When i was in my friends car back end went out first thing he did was touch the brakes As you can imagine it is not all crystal clear! I know i tried to correct the back end steering the other way, then had to correct it the other way! I would imagine i did hit the brakes, but cant say for sure. Would i be right in saying the best way to correct the back end going out would be to hit the accelerator?? Quote
C4VTS Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Would i be right in saying the best way to correct the back end going out would be to hit the accelerator?? That would be correct on a race track with no oncoming trees ! But, as your driven and steerable wheels had left the ground I don't think you could have done much. I would have just tried to steer the car, and left brakes and accelerator alone. Quote
wozza Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Just dont touch the brakes when the back end goes ever did it onceluckily there was a bit of grass at the side of the road i ended up on the grass pointing the wrong way but i learnt my lesson which was dont take corners too fast and dont hit brakes when the back end goes you just loose control altogether. But if the wheels were in the air its just a cae of pointing them the way you wanna go and hoping you get some traction again at some point that will help you get the car back. But when you do have control over the car back end goes what i usually do is snap the wheel the same way the back end slips out then bring it back dont touch any of the pedals until its stabilized a bit then get back on the gas. But no point getting upset over the car its just a chunk of metal at the end of the day life is worth far more. And a car can always be replaced. Quote
Ciaran2903 Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 The wheels were not off the ground, its just that there was no weight on them, and therefore no traction. The body had not gone with the wheels. but i learnt my lesson which was dont take corners too fast Ditto! Quote
wozza Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 When i did it i went in to the corner too fast resulting in loads of understeer lifted off the gas and in a clio thats a bad thing to do it has a fair bit of lift off oversteer me being inexperianced put brakes on car span i ended up pointing the wrong way round the corner as i went into a grass section and came to a stop luckily no damage apart from a slight mark on the rear bumper which polished out. But after that decided i need to find out what i should and should not do in various situations and learn how to correct things like that etc. Quote
kfk Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 thought this was how good is your dealer..........can we get back on topic? Quote
barns Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 i've used the same dealer for my last two cars 'Perry's Barnsley' just different manufacturers. They have been helpful when needed but i don't like salemen/ persons anyway they tend to get me fired up before i even get into conversation, more bothered about how they look rather than car knowledge or do you want to insure your insurance incase your insurance blar blar bullshit....... :D but when warrenty work has been carried out they have supplied loan/hire cars including home pickups etc, with no fuss so overall not bad....................
