I have just purchased a 2001 C5 and everything is working fine on it apart from the temperature display on the multifunction display. All it does is show --o but no readings, does anyone know how to sort this, is it a sensor that can be changed easily. Cheers!

Thanks. Now I know where the sensor is, does anyone know if it is an easy thing to change or is it another Citroen special: mmm that's going to cost £300 at least. Where do they get their figures from arghh!!!!

Hi, Take mirror apart, cut wires to sensor touch them together for a moment, if you get a reading a new sensor will cost you about £20 from Citroen, solder the wores and assemble. Regards, 2004hm.

Wait a minute folks, does the display unit actually display the temperature anyway. Is it not just for showing you when the temperature gets to between +3Deg and -3Deg to warn of frost on the roads?

I'm just not sure that the display is supposed to show any other 'normal' temperatures. My 2001 C5 HDI LX does not display any temperatures unless it is between the +3 and -3.

Tell me Frankieb, are you troubled with a poor level of warm air blowing? I have this problem and I believe it may be due to the outside temp sensor being goosed. The car must think it's warm when its actually bloody freezing and it wont pump the heat up in the cabin.

I'd like to know how you got on with your temp sensor anyway.

Cheers!

No, it always shows the current temperature whatever it may be.

The display on the centre of the dash which displays radio station or CD track and the time, will only show temp instead of time if the temeperature is between -3 and +3, as a warning. Other than that, I have no temperature display. I have an LX spec 2001 HDI, maybe you have a higher spec car which does display the temperature all the time.

Is this the case or do I have a fault?

May be the spec I have to admit - mine's a 2002 SX HDi. Hardly seems to make much sense though - why ±3˚? when the glowplugs aren't required until -5˚. If it is going to display anything at all then it may as well be full scale.

Do you get the text "Ice Alert" at lower temperatures that +3˚? if so they could leave out the temperature display altogether. Also, there is more likely to be ice around at lower temperatures than -3˚ so a cuttoff there makes no sense either.

My C5 2003 exclusive shows outside temperature all the time.
