Hi there,

just wondering if any of you lot out there can help, my father has a C5 (actually 2 and I have one too!) but his is a bit odd, it is an 02 2.0 Hdi, it's done around 80K and drives fine (apparently) only thing is overnight it 'settles' and the back end is practically touching the floor (the rear wheel arches cover at least a third of the typres!) now, my car doesn't do this and his estate doesn't do it either so I assume there's something wrong with his suspension - do the spheres need replacing? or is it something elso do you think????

Cheers in advance, lindsay

C5's need their first service on the hydraulic system at 5 years, including a change of fluid. Sinking overnight (other than slightly), indicates an internal leak on the antisink valve or on one of the rear spheres.

If the fluid reservoir is low the vehicle must be leaking externally (unless a sphere has failed).

If any of the components were leaking internally and ussing there return pipes the resrvoir would collect the fluid.......and the level wouldnt drop. If anything, with the suspension dropping overnight and returning to the reservoir it would have a higher level in the morning than when you turned the vehicle off the night before.

Should the rear suspension leak it isnt uncommon for the rear suspension cross member to have a damp patch on it......the breather pipe fro the rear suspension bellows is fed into it......have a look there.
