Hi all, just acquired a March 2006 reg (built July 2005) facelift C5 1.6HDI with NaviDrive.

Someone has very kindly let me borrow a Clarion PU-2293B 96 365 617 80 CD changer to install and configure, and pay him if it works.

Have booked it in at a local Citroen dealer for Wednesday pm, but I don't know if it will be recognised.

There're lots of confusing queries/stories around, but I can't seem to find any definite information that I can confidently use regarding fitting this changer. Are earlier changers suitable or not suitable for facelift onwards?

Is there anyone locally who has the appropriate Lexia set up that can look at this for me, for suitable recompense?

Or does anybody know if there is a specific Clarion part number I should be looking for?

Citroen say that their part number is 6564QK but couldn't tell me what Clarion's part number for that is.

Thanking you in anticipation...

Pat

Do I need to provide more information?

Welcome to the forum.

The Citroen parts diagrams for the car radio cd changer give the Clarion no. as well as the Citroen part no. For 6564QK for the 1.6hdi, the Clarion part is given as 9647427980 or 9663425180. So it may or not work. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service on the service.citroen website registering as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club.

You can load a lot of tracks in to the Navi Drive but I have not tried, the handbook says it can take a long time.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response and pointing me in the right direction.

I have already registered with service.citroen (have just had a Peugeot, and used servicebox) and printed off my vehicle specifics, but I was only looking at the parts relevant to my vin number and hadn't thought to look under general vehicle type.

Looking at those diagrams, with an rpo of 10488, I can be fairly confident in looking for a 964727980.

I wasn't aware of being able to load tracks into the NaviDrive, and don't know that I would want to do that particularly.

The CD slot plays the Navteq map ok, it will play MP3 discs and my own home recorded discs, but only twice has it played a standard commercial CD. I don't understand that. I've run a cleaning disc in it, but that's made no difference. Hence the desire for a CD changer, plus I can keep the map disc in if I want to. And I've enabled the Aux input also, which works fine, I like to have options.

I'll be looking at updating the Navteq map soon, any comments, recommendations?

My previous searches through these forums led me to the estate opening rear window glass fix, duly done. Very useful to be able to resolve these little problems...so thanks to all those contributors.

Thanks again, Paul. Appreciate it.

The Navidrive on our 2007 C5 has a hard drive and the maps are loaded onto that and a cd is not used, so maybe the earlier ones are different. For a map update first I would ask a dealer.

Acquired a 9647427980 and had it configured to the car today at my local Citroen dealer, and it works fine. I'm glad about that...

Nice now to have the option available.

does anyone know if there's an mp3 compatible changer that would work in a 2006 c5, to replace the audio - only, no text clarion?

there  are mp3 changers around, (alpine) but not sure if they would work

The radio Citroen part no. is 6574EX and they call it a GSM receiver . In the car characteristics it is listed as a RT4 audio/telephone system + colour Nav. There is also a software cd part no. 6574PK but I do not have anything like this.

Thanks - I was really after the model number, which is on the Magneti Marelli label on the top of the unit.

Mine is RT3 X3 N10

Radios are advertised on ebay by reference to model number..

I have just tried the Citroen 6574EX part no. in the citroencarparts.net site and it comes back as £2694.07 new, so ones on ebay for about £200 do not seem too bad. The software cd 6574PK is £28.74. To get the radio label info I will need to pull it out later.

It looks as if member A_Taylor may be scrapping his car which is a 1.6 hdi VTX so it will likely have the same radio as our 2.2 hdi VTX. He is expecting only a few £100 for his car so may be open to an offer for the radio. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22043-engine-supplier-needed-for-c5/?do=findComment&comment=81302  If you can get his car VIN you could check the Citroen part no.

Many thanks Paul. What a crazy price for a replacement! I didn't think they still made them - can't sell many at that price.

I'd really appreciate it if yo could get me the model number at some stage.

Thanks again

It might not be a RT4 since the Magneti Marelli label has the following numbers on it:

RT3 X3-N3

e2 03 06046

18/09/07  503551001207

CD1301-1  X380CZK97

96645761YW

N3

CE0681  X  354149010654820

Under the front plastic cover there are 2 labels:

OPERATEUR No. 26

12/04/2007 08:26.13

and

5X30UKJ97  I lot:2  18/09/2007

554550422205  11:30

Under the radio there is another label:

*X380CZK97*

I also noticed slotted in the side of the radio is what appears to be a lithium battery with these numbers on its label, so if it starts to lose its memory then this would be a good bet to replace:

3CR17335HE-R 9V

554551001302

F734A1347

2507H 31

Anyone thinking of removing the mark 2 C5 radio, it is held in by a screw at each end, located at the bottom of a small hole on the front and needs a long T9 torx bit. The screws only need to be loosened, they do not come out. Then use the bit in each hole to pull out the radio by levering to one side in the hole - do not use a screwdriver down the side of the plastic front since this may cause damage, I have seen one for sale on ebay that has a few bits broken off the side of the front. This PRO141 torx bit set for £5.99 from Machine Mart works well https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/pro141-8pce-torx-key-set

There is a RT3 X3-N3 on ebay for £220 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C5-RADIO-SAT-NAV-SATELLITE-NAVIGATION-DRIVE-RT3-X3-N3-/201210886480

Thanks for that Paul

I bought the ebay one and it arrived today. Looking at the back I have some concerns on its compatability

There are 4 fakra connections - 2 seem to be for phone and nav, and should be OK with my car, albeit different colour codes. That leaves 2 (grey and white) for the radio aerial? Maybe this has dual tuners? I have a single ISO connection in the car, but that can be converted to dual fakra easy enough.

Then there are 2 strange looking square connectors - an 8 pin and a 6 pin, in addition to the standard quadlock which I can connect to. Any idea what these are for? were they connected in your car?

If so, this is not going to be so simple.

Many thanks for your help here

There are a lot of cables connected to the back of the radio and I do not know what they are for but everything you describe seems to be connected (from memory). I tried searching for any info or pictures and looked at the parts diagrams. One of the extra connectors may be for the screen cable and a microphone is also shown on the parts but there is nothing in the procedures that suggests what anything is for. The configuration procedure says there may be 1 or 2 aerial connectors if there is a dual tuner. It is also wired up for a cd changer but one is not installed but I do not know if this would be the other connector. It also has front and rear parking sensors but I do not know how these are connected. In the glove box are 3 round aux inputs like on old video recorders so maybe these connect to the radio.

OK - the aux (in glovebox) and cd changer connect into the back of the quadlock area with 12 pin connectors.

I'm guessing (hoping) the 8 pin and 6 pin are for some kind of other accessory

I'l try connecting with quadlock and single aerial tomorrow and let you know how I got on. Hopefully it should all work, but with a beep that vin coding will cure.

No good. All the connections are different - phone and nav aerials are not fakra after all on my car - strange square pin things. Even the quadlock power connections are different!

Thanks Citroen!

A word of warning therefore - don't try and upgrade your RT3 to a newer model that looks identical - it isn't.

Back on ebay we go...
