nelliened Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 hi guyscan anyone give me some answers !!i have a 2001 xantia2 hdi estate.there seems to be a banging coming from the engine bay area when i change gears (clutch replaced last year).dealership says poss bottom crank pulley !!but also been told engine mounts !!any idea'sregardsnelliened p.s. doors from mk1 do fit mk2 (earlier post) Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Take a look at the bottom engine mount. You'll find it underneath, just below the off-side drive shaft. The rubber doughnut should allow slight movement, but not too much. Quote

DickieG Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 If it is the crank pulley (a common failure on HDi's) then get it sorted asap because if it fails then the timing belt will slip, which being a diesel will destroy the engine :o Quote
cardi Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Can't see it being pulley as the clunk occurs on gear change only. Presume it also occurs when you first move off. Almost certainly engine mountings. Get a big bar and lever the engine around. Quote
