Neil@work Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 HiCan anyone tell me what this is called as i can find no information about it.It is some sort of thermocouple mounted in the side of the heater by the clutch pedal. It seems to trip the Air Con compressor in and out.I recently had a problem with a friends car the compressor would not keep running unless i kept this warm in the palm of my hand so in order to make the Air Con work properly i had to strap it to the side of the heater to keep it warm thus allowing the the system to work properly. THOMASROBLOT Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 "sonde givrage évaporateur" in french so it is the evaporator sonde ( anti freeze)it use to check the temperature in the evaporator, it stop the compressor at 1C just before it freeze. Quote
paul.h Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 it may be faulty if it is tripping at about 25°C ambient temperature and needs body temp to work. Quote
Neil@work Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 I,m fairly sure its faulty but i need to know what its called so i can try to order another and as i said before i can find nothing on the WEB other that a few pictures showing it in its housing as shown in the attached photo. Quote
paul.h Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 You do not mention the car but it is the air con evaporator temperature sensor. At low temperature it stops the air con to avoid freezing any water vapour that condenses on the evaporator matrix from the air to the cabin. If the car is a Citroen and you provide the model details we can provide the part number and official Citroen part name. For example, if it is a mark 1 C3, 1.4 petrol then there is a choice of part nos. depending on whether it has climate control and the car RPO no. but could be 6445RP or 6445KP or 6445ZT and is called Evaporator sensor. Neil@work Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Sorry forgot to mention about the car its a C3 1.4cc 2004. Cheers Quote
paul.h Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 If you go to a Citroen dealer with the car 17 digit VIN (chassis no) they will supply the correct part. The VIN can easily be seen at the bottom right of the windscreen when looking at it from the passenger side front wing and will start VF7. Quote
