xantiagreen Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hi, just ordered Infinity Referecnce 6502ix - 16.5cm 180W 2-way car speakers for the front and Kenwood KFC-S1394 3-Way 160W 13cm Speakers for the rear all for £79 new, I'm using a Kenwood (40x4) cd player 2003/4. Someone said you have to watch out for water from the door that could damage the speakers, water always comes down through the door thats why it has drain holes so what I can't understand is how would it affect the speakers if car manufacturers have placed them there in the first place. Also everytime i start the ignition the cd players makes it insert and eject cd whirring noise with or without the face attached. The lead i have used is an original kenwood lead and xantia blocks fit to into it properly. Quote
paul.h Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Car doors have a plastic sheet that keeps the door card side dry and the speakers.Sounds as if the radio is switching on every time the engine is started so that it pulls in a cd. Try without a cd and see if it still happens. Quote

Tried without cd in the player and its still doing the same. never did this in any of the other cars i had bx, xantia petrol mk1 and most recent ford mondeo mk3 Quote
paul.h Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Is the radio switched off before leaving the car ? Just wondering if the radio on/off switch is faulty, maybe you need to check with the supplier if this is normal for the model of radio. Quote
paul.h Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Out of interest, I tried this on our 2007 C5 with the standard Citroen radio. Sat in the car and waited for the bsi to shutdown, then poked a cd in the cd slot, then started the engine and the cd was pulled in and the radio started, even though it was switched off before previously turning off the engine and removing the key. The cd did not eject though as you are experiencing. So maybe what seems like unusual behaviour is now quite normal. When I tried the same thing before the bsi had shutdown the cd was pulled straight in and started playing. If the cd is left in the radio before turning it off and stopping the engine, then nothing happens with the radio when the engine is restarted. Quote
dasault Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Hi Guys I'm new here but used to have a car audio business before my daughter got cancer .. so had to retire from it ... life changes every which way and i must roll with the punches.ref the radio problem switching on with the engine .. i find that depending on who fitted the unit dealer or diy ? .... anyway people can get confused between the ign and acc wire !! are they reversed ? even with the advent of the iso plugs these wires can be reversed as in fiat bravo and others !This can an expensive mistake when dealing with issues like active antennas etcwith regard to wet speakers... numerous issues can cause this.fitting speakers that are too deep ... magnets protrude well into door panel / cavity or door seals are gone.quick solution : we used to use a product called ''rain off'' it was a kit with sticky foam pads that moulded around the speaker basket and were 100% waterproof.... may have some left in stores..would have to check. paul.h Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Welcome to the forum. Often there are questions on the audio systems but until now we did not have anyone with expert knowledge, so any help you can provide is appreciated. If you have a Citroen car and need help with that please ask. Quote
paul.h Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 On a C5 UVG's radio kept switching itself on and found the volume on/off button was sticking - see this topic http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20949-radio-issues-switches-on-by-itself/?do=findComment&comment=80066 Quote
