I bought a c8 form auctions, got it home, boot will not open.

I found out ffom google search, that washer pipe for rear window, comes apart from join behind plastic panel by rear side window, so checked and it has, so re joined it, but water had been sprayed on boot wiring loom join plug.

I cut plug of and reconnected with chockey blocks, but will still not open.

Welcome to the forum.

In the handbook it tells you how to open the tailgate if the outside switch does not work - from inside the car, insert a screwdriver in the small hole at the left of the lock and turn it. With the door open and the door panel removed, you need to check if there is an electrical supply to the switch and then from here to the lock. Also check if there is a continuous earth from the door back to the body. If there is a supply to the switch but it does not pass this on to the lock then the switch probably needs replacing or cleaning internally. If there is not a supply to the switch work backwards on the wiring in to the car body until you find the wiring break.

If you do not have the handbook these can be seen/printed on the service.citroen website, documentation de bord, select language and then your car http://service.citroen.com/ddb/

I have already opened it with the screw driver in the hole.

There is power to switch, but nothing at lock, I bypassed the switch but still nothing

From a wiring diagram in the Haynes C5 manual, the switch is fed from the bsi (cabin fusebox) and goes to earth. The lock has 2 wires from the bsi and 1 wire to earth - both the bsi wires are the same colour but with different numbers - this is the way Citroen tend to do the wiring, all the same colour but identified with numbers. One of the bsi wires goes to the lock motor and the other to a switch in the lock. It may be when you cut off the wiring plug and connected everything back, the lock wires were mixed up. A supply to the lock wires from the bsi would only occur as the switch is used and then for a short time just so the lock motor works. You could try the lock by removing its connector, provide an earth to the earth pin and then touch a 12 volt positive to the motor connector pin.

I have found a issue, i think may be to do with it.

With boot open facing boot, if you take of side panel in boot off side, there is a black box fitted to body with a wiring loom and plug going in to top of box, and 3 or 4 wires going into the side, the loom on the top when i unplugged it the plug has been damaged by water and is corroded badly and rusty terminals, is this box for boot locking, if so what is this part called.

Thanks

Just spoke to Citroen, that box is for parking sensors, so am not worried about that, how can i wire boot up so it opens, i dont care about boot being able to open when all doors are locked, so is there a way i can wire it up so it opens.

Can I take a direct live feed from battery to boot switch, or is it best to do it through a relay.

You could try a direct battery feed (via a fuse) but you would need a switch that gives a quick pulse of 12 volts to the lock to 1 of the 2 bsi connections on the lock and an earth to the earth one - ideally using a new connector if making this permanent. The switch would need to be inside the car or anyone could open it. How this would affect the central locking and the bsi I do not know but just removing the electrical connector from the lock has the same effect since you will be leaving this not connected.
