TJB444 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I have a 1999 t reg Synergie 160k on the clock. It runs well but have a particular recurring problem.Every now and then the speedmeter shows the wrong speed. It displays 20mph on idle and roughly 50 at 30, 70 at 50.It will then go back to normal after a while. This problem seems to occur after heavy rain or in damp conditions.I understand that if I were to clean the stepper motor electrical connection this might solve the problem.I would like to locate the stepper motor connection and give it a clean/dry it out.Pease could someone tell me where to find it...or does anyone have any other thoughts what the problem may be...Thanks Quote
paul.h Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Welcome to the forum. It might just be a loose needle. There is a pinned post on the C5 subforums on speedometer repairs which may help. Quote
StephenMorris Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 On the back of the needle inside the cluster is a clear plastic unit which houses the needle "motor", the back of this unit has a vertical plastic pin as part of its moulding which breaks off. You can by just the plastic backing of the unit or the complete unit online for a few pound, I bought a couple of the plastic backs and replaced both speedo (faulty unit) and rev counter (as already had cluster apart) can be repaired with a little time.
