guy4072 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Hi all Just got an 04 2.0 Hdi Estate that I am very happy with. I get the impression the handbook is not exhaustive or indeed accurate (interior fusebox bears no relation to the one illustrated). Anyway, on cold starts the STOP light and red Temp light remain on for a few seconds longer than the other dash lights before going off. They go off at the same time as the others when starting from warm. Is this normal or am I being told something? Any pointers greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote
paul.h Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Welcome to the forum. I suspect you do not have a problem since the lights go out but once the engine is running if they come back on then there may be something. It may be worth checking your battery voltage in case it is a bit down, should be about 12.5 to 12.7 volts before starting the engine, then about 14.4 volts. Where is the red temp light ? The pictures I have of the dash show there is a low fuel level one at the left of the fuel gauge and at the bottom of the temperature gauge is a thermometer symbol which (according to the RTA French manual for the mark 1 C5 but not in the one for the mark 2 C5) lights up with the ignition in the M position and alarms if the coolant level is low or the coolant temperature is high - however, none of this is noted in my C5 handbook so maybe there has been a change from the mark 1 to mark 2 C5. My C5 handbook is for a 2007 model and on the section on starting with the key in the M ignition position it says the following warning lamps should light up for a short time - handbrake, engine diagnosis, ABS, ESP/ASR, passenger's airbag deactivation, low fuel level, Stop, SERVICE. guy4072 Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Hi Thanks for your quick response. The red temp light is to the bottom right of the temp gauge. I know it should light and then go out as with the STOP light and both do 99% of the time. Just twice from cold these two lights appear not to be in sync with the others that go out when they should. It drives fine, coolant fine. A glitch I suspect. A very nice and practicle estate I hope to keep for a good few years. Quote
