Tonyc Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 My 2008 c4 diesel will not blow hot air, it will sometimes if i drive over a pot hole in the road. Checked the obvious! Any ideas? Quote
paul.h Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Welcome to the forum. Do you have air con with climate control or a manual system ? Whichever it is, the control to move the warm air flap from the cold to hot position is not working. If climate control, usually a motor is used and these can fail (a new one for a C5 was about £60 a couple of years ago). If a manual system, it is likely the flap is moved by cables so it may have come unclipped at one end. Pity it has just happened now the cold weather has arrived. Quote
Tonyc Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 Cheers for reply paul, my c4 has air con, all push button control and the hot/ cold is a rotary control. I also thought it could be the electric hot/cold control valve/unit, but i cannot find it. Do you know the location of this valve/unit???? Quote
paul.h Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 There is now a Haynes manual for the C4 which will be worth you getting. I think you are saying you have manual air con - a rotary control to alter the temperature and a rotary control to alter the air distribution flaps, a button to switch the air con on or off, a button to put the air flow on recirculation and no indication of the temperature. With the manual air con system, the temperature control flap is moved by a cable from the back of the rotary control. This cable may have come loose at one end, maybe the control seems a bit easier to turn to help confirm this. Access to the cable requires removal of quite a few of the dash panels and in the passenger footwell. As far as I can tell, there is not a valve to control the flow of hot coolant to the heater system and nothing is mentioned in the Haynes manual. Quote
Tonyc Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 Thanx again paul, the car is my partners and tryin to get the correct info and terminology from a female can be some what difficult. I am not sure if the rotary temp control is easier to rotate than normal, but it is very light to turn. I will check this out at weekend and hopefully find a problem thier! Cheers again. Quote
