wsmdesign Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) hi folks I have a 2011 (not new LED running light version) 2.0 hdi exclusive tourer and when I went to pick the car up the salesman (Citroen dealership) said I would be able to play music from my iphone via the USB socket in centre armrest using the appropriate cable. After a lot of messing around no one could get the system to work. The previous owner had a lot of files stored on the HDD and we were unable to delete them too. Car was taken into workshop and plugged in my mechanics who also said that the music should be able to play from the iphone - a lot of head scratching. After some work by the technicians the old music files were able to be removed but the iphone was still not working. Interestingly the Bluetooth connection worked fine so no problems making or receiving calls. The previous owner was also called and whilst he did not have an iphone he confirmed he could plug in a usb stick and play music files no problem. The upshot is that the dealer thinks there is a problem with the unit and is contacting Citroen today to see if there is a technical issue or an update required or perhaps that the unit needs replaced (car still under warranty). I'm at a loss as everyone is convinced that there is a problem with the car (at the dealership) but I just wanted to check with the 'real' experts who may know the answer..............any help would be appreciated. thanks again folks Edited December 3, 2013 by wsmdesign Quote
qman3428 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Not an expert and I have aa slightly older car, but wouldn't you play music from the headphone socket to a matching socket on the car? I think mine is in the glove box. Wouldn't have thought that USB was the right way of doing it. Quote

qman3428 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 It could be that the song format on the iphone is one of apples custom formats (.aac is used by itunes) the most common format for music is mp3 so try putting some songs on a usb stick using mp3 format and see if they work. if they do then you will need to back up all the songs on your iphone to your PC, then rip them to mp3 format. Once loaded you have a solution. Quote
seefive Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The brochure has a picture of an ipod connected to the "MP3 adaptor", so I'm pretty sure this is somehow converting the files into a readable MP3 format. Your main dealer really should know about this. Quote
