JM53 BEL Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I wanted to tint the windows on my car and was wondering if any one has theres done, as most will know the rear window is a strange shape but is a good looking design, when i called up a couple of tint companies one refused to do it! One wanted me to take car to them to decide to do it or not and if the made an attempt and couldnt i would still be paying for it due to material and time, the 3rd says they heard you cant do it on them cause the window is to complex for shaping the tint! But again they would give it a go if i wanted but if they couldnt do it i would still have to pay! These are all professionel tinters. I am curious if anyone has had theres done as i am thinking of doing it myself as i can fit tints but dont like doing it due to the time it takes. But i have never attempted such a complicated shape window and dont want to waste the time trying if it cant be done. Quote
paul.h Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Another option may be to replace the windows with tinted ones. We have standard tinted rear and tailgate windows on our C4 and I find they only serve to make visibility more difficult and hence not a fan of this latest design feature. Quote
JM53 BEL Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 I am not sure if they do rear tinted windows on the C5, if so would be the better option, i like the tints for security and the kids, it offers them better UV protection and helps cut diwn glare from the sun, i had inbuilt blinds on my last car witch i know they do for this but i would prefer to tint, Quote
paul.h Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 A quick look at the parts diagrams for the estate shows the rear door and tailgate windows are available as tinted and deep tinted glass. For the saloon though only one option is listed for the doors but for the rear window a tinted plus over tinted one is available - part 8744 GE . On UV protection, I thought glass cuts out UV light and not necessarily the tint. Quote
JM53 BEL Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Kind of both, the added tint also helps reduce UV level, as well as the glass but most manufacturers put a tint on there glass, you may notice some windscreens seem to have a reflective tint in the windscreens where it makes it look pinky purple. Renault are known for this! That is an anti UV protection film Quote
Sloppysod Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 It has been 1 1/5 years since this post was live and..... Hi, I am thinking of applying window tint film to my 2011 Saloon and have a few questions that I hope someone may be able to answer. I am thinking of only 50% on the back end so the contrast between front & back is not too great, any thoughts or experiences, as I have black part leather I feel the lighter tint will also keep the car relatively light inside as I have black part leather.1, The UK legal limit for front glass tint is 70%, what is the standard tint of the Exclusive glass, is it 5% so therefore I can only fit tinting film of 75% only?2, How easy is it to do or would it be better to get it done professionally.
