Vovin Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Hello Everyone, Just got me a C5 VTR Estate and thought id join here so I could pick your collective brains. Me: Recently moved to Aberdeenshire. Car: 2004 Citroen C5 VTR Estate 203000 Miles and still going strong Bluish, with character enhancing scuffs. Issues which will be dealt with: Third brake light, heated rear screen and rear glass door inoperative. Had the trim off only to find that two of the hex bolts holding on the spoiler/light housing has corroded so much the clips snapped (a menacing grin and a power drill will be heading its way there soon) Passenger side arm rest Headlights very misty GPS not picking up any signal (reading the forum, it could be the amp) Sidelight switch (may explain why Lexia behaves in an antisocial manner with my car??) Brake judder from the rear when braking. Steering wheel judder at speed (i'm thinking wheels just need a balance) Those small issues aside, a fantastic car! Recently did a 350 mile drive from Hartlepool to Aberdeen and it was exceedingly comfy! Plans (money permitting) Engine service Timing belt and tensioners replace Cruise control retrofit Maybe a leather interior (definitely money permitting!) That's me and that's my car, I look forward to reading the forums and hopefully contributing myself. Regards, Quote
paul.h Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Welcome to the forum. Which engine is it ? I had to replace the high level brake light on our C5 estate since the old one was letting in water and then broke the lens whilst trying to dismantle it. On the new one I put some black sealant in the gap between the red lens and black plastic. I read on a caravan forum that the high level light may not be needed for the MOT and would only get an advisory in case you change your mind about replacing it. Quote
Vovin Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Hi Paul, Its a 2.0 TDI. I am about to attempt the tailgate repair this coming weekend. As far as I know the 3rd brake light is not a requirement, its more just me wanting to have everything working as it should. I will grab myself some sealant and in the gap you mentioned! Thanks for the advice Quote
paul.h Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 If you put a blanket on the rear of the roof it will help prevent scratching the paintwork when the spoiler is rested on it. You may find the high level light glows slightly until the bsi shuts down - there is a fix for this, soldering a resistor across the light +/- connection but I could not be bothered since the gap to do this is rather tight.
