paul.h Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Welcome to the forum. Not had to consider pinking for years but from memory pinking could be caused by- carbon build up needing a decoke- an air leak giving a weak mixture- using a low octane fuel- a faulty knock sensor- ignition timing advanced too far- high compression after skimming the cylinder head From these the easiest to try are looking for an air leak and using some of the dearer petrol which may have a higher octane value. The ignition timing as probably not adjustable. If there is a knock sensor it would probably need a diagnostic check to test it but it may cost less to buy one. There also may be benefit in checking the air filter and spark plugs do not need replacing and the spark plugs are the correct ones. Quote
