Leesalter Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Good morning everyone. Have just had the pleasure of buying a 2003 C5 2.2 HDI Exclusive. It replaces my trusty xsara as a comfy commuter for work. I live in Fareham and work at Goodwood so a 50 mile round trip a day and what a lovely comfy waft in every day. My C5 has 110k miles and a full service up to 106k. A few things I want to sort but touch wood so far no nasty surprises. It could do with a good set of tyres on as all 4 are different budget brands............................And that's it. No doubt a few more things will appear through time but at the moment I love it. One small question with the multifunction display(the one with the green back) can I not got MPG displayed on it or do I need the orange one. If that's the case is it a simple swop over. Thanks in advance Lee Quote
paul.h Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of C5 owners here so you are in good company. To change the mpg screen readings the button on the end of the wiper stalk is pushed. A quick push changes the readout and a long push resets the values to zero. On tyres, I have tended to use Michelins since they give a high mileage, about 30k, but are expensive initially. Do you have a record of the exhaust dpf filter being changed and the eolys fluid being topped up at about 70k miles ? Also a look at the Common Problems post on the C5 Technical section will give you a few things to check for. One warning though is to not go under the car without using axle stands. If a height sensor (on front and rear anti roll bars) is knocked, the suspension can quickly drop to a low level. If you do need to jack the car up, in the handbook it says to first raise the car suspension to max height. This can avoid possible suspension problems and the car wanting to adjust itself level whilst doing it. Quote
Leesalter Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks for the reply Paul Got a receipt when at 76000 for the dpf filter, I think they must have left it as long as poss. I thought it was the wiper stalk but mine does bugger all. Might be the first thing needing replacing. Blooming helpful forum buy the way people. Thank you Quote
