Hi there

I wounder if any one can help me here

I have a cetroen C3 1.4 Hdi

I havd a new stater motor fitted a while ago as the old one was not engaging. I now have another problem in which the car will just die on me when driving.

It was statring badly I thought it may be bad fuel at first as if I pumped the diesel pump ball to purge more fuel it seemed to start.

I also have the orange engine management light which stays on now. I dont know if the battery would cause something like this?

I have just been for a drive and it seem also that the car will not rev over 3000 Revs but when driving the car it seemed all ok?  any suggestions anyone

Many thanks Regards Anthony

Your best option will be to get the fault code read and then clear the engine management light. This should give you a good indication of what is wrong. Otherwise it will be a case of guessing what is wrong and maybe replacing parts that are not at fault until you find the right one. You can get a fault code reader for less than the cost of a garage diagnostic check (from such as Gendan) but if your car is pre 2004 you need to check it will work since diesels were only EOBD compliant from then. One possibility though could be a blocked fuel filter or something that has caused the engine to go in to limp mode. It is probably not the battery if it is still able to spin the engine to start it and a low voltage is more likely to give a SERVICE message or depending on the car year, a few beeps on starting.

I have moved the topic into a subforum since ones outside will not show after a few days and are then difficult to find.
