dcba12290 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hi I am in the process of removing the dash on my c5 2005 1.6 hdi vtr to the best of my knowledge I have followed all the steps in the Haynes manual but it seems very reluctant to budge is it normal that it would need force or have I forgotten something do you think ? anyone had a dashout ? citrophile Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 In my experience the Haynes manual often misses out a couple of important steps or doesn't tell you the "easy" way to remove something so that may be why it won't budge. Also bear in mind that it probably hasn't been distrubed since it came out of the factory 8 years ago. Can I ask why you are doing it? I thought about removing the dash so that I could replace a bit of the aircon unit on mine but when I looked through all the different things you have to dismantle like steering columns, coolant system, air bags etc etc I decided I could live with the passenger air con not working properly! I did initially start to dismantle the dash on my "spare" VTR but gave up pretty soon as it was becoming a mammoth task. Not that I'm afraid of big jobs having replaced the turbo on my 2.0 HDI......!!! I'm going to be stripping my VTR soon so if you find you need any "bits" to put yours back together give me a shout. paul.h Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 On our last C5 the air con was not cooling down as much at one side and it turned out to be short of refrigerant. Quote
dcba12290 Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Hi all I managed to get it out in the end there was 2 bolts in the middle radio gap that held the dash to the cross member, for reasons best known to citroen the had placed black tape over them making them invisible. The reason for the removal was to repair the heater flaps which were both broken in exactly the same place both sides obviously a bad design. Repair has been done and almost all back together it has been an experience not for the faint hearted will let you know in the next few days how it went and if the repair was successful. Quote
